Trask is still firmly behind Wilson and Lance, in my opinion. Maybe even behind others. While his production is outstanding, you can still see aspects in his game that don’t bode well for a move to the NFL. Questionable footwork and heavy feet are never a good combination in the NFL. Trask has both, and he doesn’t have the pure arm strength to really make up for it. From the games that I’ve seen this year, while his ball placement has been very good, there are so many passes where you’re sort of just waiting for the ball to get there. He doesn’t have the quickest release, and the ball doesn’t really fly out of his hand. But, Trask has that classic big bodied, tall pocket passer build that get a lot of QBs over drafted, and I think he’ll be another one.

Watching Trask, to me, is like watching Case Keenum. I see far more “wow” moments from his receivers, than I do from the QB.

I somewhat agree with what you are saying but I also stand by my post.  Any of these 3 could go 3 , 4 , or 5.  What I do know is that he has clearly taken a step forward from last year and it only takes 1 team to fall in love with any of these guys to jump up and pick them.

Lance has a terrible 2020 season that he must overcome or teams to dismiss to take him high in the draft.  His 2019 film is great but level of competition will be questioned.

Wilson is having his by far best season, but he also makes some head scratching plays.  His competition will be questioned all year and his previous seasons will be combed over with a microscope.

What Trask has going for him is he is producing this year against top level competition.  Something  he struggled to do in the past.

With Zach Wilson appearing to surpass Trey Lance in the prospect rankings, there is still a decent chance that the Vikings have a shot at Lance.  While there are quite a few teams that might be looking at QBs ahead of them (Jets, Jags, WFT, Pats, Panthers, Falcons) some of them will not do so.  But, even if they do, then that's likely that good players on the offensive and defensive lines will be available for them.

Funny thing is, we will most likely select a dlinemen or cornerback with the first pick because our front office still believes cousins is the way to go. You’ll see lol.

There is no way they think that, and if they do they should be fired.  The Vikings have to be looking towards the future and select a QB, if not 1st round then 2nd round and at worst 3rd round.  No way Stanley and Browning are the future at QB for this team, neither one even made the active roster.

Real question is, who is better for the Vikings in the future.

2021
Trey Lance
Mac Jones
Zach Wilson

Or in 2022
Kedon Slovis
Spencer Rattler
Sam Howell
Matt Corral  etc.

But fact is Slovis and Rattler could be picks #1 and #2 in 2022 and hope the Vikings are not picking that high in the draft.  Value wise we might miss out on Trey Lance and he could be gone, but could get Mac Jones or Zach Wilson which would not be bad.  Developmentally and in terms of upside I would take Trey Lance over Jones or Wilson.  But potentially best players long term, Slovis and especially Rattler are better than any of those three in 2021, possibly even Howell as well.  Lesser extent in 2022 is Dillon Gabriel, Jayden Daniels, Phil Jurkovec, Hank Bachmeier and Bo Nix and all have pretty good potential as well.

Pulling this over from the Tank for Trevor thread. Matchups in bold are against teams currently picking in the top 10.

1. New York Jets (0-9): @ LAC, MIA, LV, @ SEA, @ LAR, CLE, @ NE (SOS .591) - They look like the could go 0-16.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-7): @ GB, PIT, CLE, @ MIN, TEN, @ BAL, CHI, @ IND (SOS .554) - Brutal remaining schedule.

3. Dallas Cowboys (2-7):  @ MIN, WAS, @ BAL, @ CIN, SF, PHI, @ NYG (SOS .473) - 3 division games left. When does Dalton come back? Does it matter?

4. New York Giants (2-7): PHI, @ CIN, @ SEA, ARI, CLE, @ BAL, DAL (SOS .508) - 2 division games left.

5. Washington (2-6): @ DET, CIN@ DAL, @ PIT, @ SF, SEA, CAR, @ PHI (SOS .466) - Does Alex Smith provide more stable QB play for this season?

6. Los Angeles Chargers (2-6): @ MIA, NYJ, @ BUF, NE, ATL, @ LV, DEN, @ KC (SOS .507) - They've got to come out on the victorious side sometime, right?

*7. Houston Texans (2-6): @ CLE, NE, @ DET, IND, @ CHI, @ IND, CIN, TEN (SOS .565)

8. Cincinnati Bengals (2-5-1): @ PIT, @ WAS, NYG, @ MIA, DAL, PIT, @ HOU, BAL (SOS .527) - Should be able to grab some wins with their remaining schedule.

9. Carolina Panthers (3-6): TB, DET, @ MIN, DEN, @ GB, @ WAS, NO (SOS .537) - Played the Chiefs tough.

10. Atlanta Falcons (3-6): @ NO, LV, NO, @ LAC, TB, @ KC, @ TB (.541) - Alternating division games the rest of the way. Kind of an odd schedule.

11. Detroit Lions (3-5):  WAS, @ CAR, HOU, @ CHI, GB, @ TEN, TB, MIN (SOS .504) - Does Stafford miss any time?

12. Minnesota Vikings (3-5): @ CHI, DAL, CARJAX, @ TB, CHI, @ NO, @ DET (SOS .507) - Every game is a playoff game from here on out.

19. Philadelphia Eagles (3-4-1): @ NYG, @ CLE, SEA, @ GB, NO, @ ARI, @ DALWAS (SOS .492) - Someone has to win the NFCE...

Is the Miami QB (King) draftable as a QB or will he be a WR/RB in the NFL?

If Kyler Murray is a draftable QB then D'Eriq King is.  D'Eriq has played great this season, is a super athlete, cat quick in the open field and has a very good throwing arm as well and is much improved as a passer compared to what he was on Houston.  He can move around and is very hard to deal with in the right system, I thought a few years ago he would be a position change but now I doubt it.  He is a poor mans Kyler Murray and if anything if D'Eriq King was around more talent he would look even better than he has this season.  The last game he played against NC State was outstanding.  Threw great deep balls, really plays behind a piss poor offensive line but in that system he is great and in the right system in the NFL he could do just fine as well.

I would not mind him for the Vikings if they decide not to go QB earlier in the draft.  He would be hard to deal with in this run game and on play action fakes, his height is an issue but Kyler Murray does ok with the height issue but does run a ton which long term is probably not best for longevity.

I would never draft him as a QB. I see him having a chance to make a team as a return specialist..

How is he any different than Kyler Murray?  The NFL has changed and so has the QBs who can succeed in the league, 20 years ago yeah a guy like that would not get a chance most likely.  He will play QB or at least get a shot at it though, if Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray get the shot, King will as well no doubt about it.  Mind you he is playing behind a pretty bad offensive line on Miami FL currently, Kyler Murray played behind a great line with arguably five pro players on it, Miami has probably zero on their OL.

Hey, everyone sees it different. I would never take a running QB.. mobile yes, not a runner.. just go look at the standings and look at the leaders in every division..

I believe Wilson, Mahomes, and Rodgers do it the best. Run only when they have to and slide. QB’s are paid to throw the ball.. How is that working out for Prescott right now.. It was a designed running play for him and he didn’t slide.

And stop making excuses for King and his offensive line. That is every QB that does play at the Elite schools.

Just like you bashed Zach Wilson because of his competition until he kill Boise State..

You never watched Dak at Miss State if you think he is a run only QB coming out of college as a senior.  Stop making excuses?  Reality is I doubt you have watched Miami much or follow prospects that closely at all regardless of who they play for.  If King was a run only QB why did he throw for over 400 yards the last game they played?  Reality is offenses have changed and if Kyler can do it in the NFL in the right system so can King, smaller QB, strong arm, used in the RPO game and moved around the pocket to open windows for them because of their height.  Lamar Jackson is a run first QB to some, cannon arm but not a great passer, and he was the MVP last season.

And like I said, Boise State I have not seen play this season yet until the BYU game, and after watching that D, who was missing some guys, few if any will play in the NFL unlike years previous for Boise State who each year had a pro or two potentially on the D.  Yeah same people probably loved KJ Costello week 1 against LSU, same ones who did not know Stingley was not playing, they were missing many starters off the defense and the ones that were in there are some what overrated recruits at this point who have not proven much.  Thus what Costello did mattered greatly to the competition he was up against, and that has shown up with how crap he has been the rest of this season.

Oh and Kyler Murray basically lead his team in rushing or was tied with the leading rusher in college at each around 1000 yards, oh and leads his NFL team in rushing currently.  Oh and Lamar Jackson lead his team in rushing in college and is currently now the leading rush on his team in the NFL as well.  So how is a running QB bad exactly?  And no King is not a run only QB, last time I checked run only QBs cannot pass the ball at a high level, someone like say Eric Couch for example.

Anything else you want to misinterpret?

Is King like Russell Wilson, Mahomes or Rodgers the best QBs in the game?  No but neither is Zach Wilson.  King would be a steal and a half in the 3rd or 4th round, but possibly is not right of the system, depends on how much RPO they want to run in the offense which is probably not a ton.

My QB big board right now;

1 Trevor Lawrence 6-6, 220 Clemson JR
2 Justin Fields 6-3, 228 Ohio State JR
3 Trey Lance 6-4, 226 North Dakota State RSO (1 game season)
4 Zach Wilson 6-3, 210 Brigham Young JR
5 Kyle Trask 6-5, 240 Florida SR
6 Mac Jones 6-3, 214 Alabama JR
7 Jamie Newman 6-4, 230 Wake Forest SR (Declared/Opted Out)
8 Joe Milton 6-5, 243 Michigan RSO

I think after 1 & 2, throw the rest in a bag and draw them out like lottery  balls, they could end up in any order...

5 maybe 6 will go in the first round.
