Cam Erving signed.

Recommended Posts

He has professional experience at every spot on the OL. That versatility should help in camp as they figure out the OL depth chart, even if he doesn't seem like a very realistic candidate to make the roster.

Especially with the new Roster Rules:

  • Requires teams to dress 8 OL or they lose a game-day roster spot.

Depth.  Increased competition.  Versatility.  All good things.

Did he start in the Superbowl? I know he started during the season.

Either way I think he can be an upgrade to Cam Flemming at swing tackle

Good pickup for you guys, as long as price is low-ish. One of those players you hope never has to see a snap, but at the same time he's most of the things you want in an OL backup. Can functionally play every position, an absolutely phenomenal teammate. He's definitely better off at G than T, but he can survive at least at either. Won't kill your offense to have him start some games in injury relief.

He did not, no. Played 1 snap I want to say as a 3rd OT, but that was it. By the superbowl, Fisher and LDT were healthy, and we had Wisniewski starting over Wylie.

I would prefer we re-sign DAVID IRVING for league min on a one year contract if he is reinstated.

Erving vs. Knight for the swing tackle job is... well it’s a thing, I guess

Smith
Connor
Looney
Martin
Collins
McGovern
Erving
Biadasz
Hyatt
Knight
Redmond

Curious to see the contract. Could be a Dalton/Rush type of deal and one of the guys who signed their tender is released. Redmond saves $.825m and Knight $.63m. Would assume Hyatt is probably on notice as well.

He is depth for every spot and a vet to push the young guys and weed out those who cant out play him even on their best day.

Muddle roster additions like this is what propels mediocrity toward, well. Better than medicrity.
