And like Takeo Spikes and Corey Dillion, he left a year too early. All three could have stuck around and played on a very good (maybe even great with those guys) '05 Bengals team. Smith was on the '05 Bengals. He signed with SF in '08.

Going to SF was the best thing he could have ever done, career wise. It probably extended his career a good 4-5 years, and gave him some all-pro teams too. Point holds for Spikes and Dillon though! The conversation started with Spikes, saying he left too soon. Then i said i wish he, Dillon and Smith stuck around for the 05 Bengals team. I was wrong on Smith, since he was there. But i still wish Dillon stuck around.

The Rudi Johnson/Chris Perry combo seemed to work pretty well for them that year.

Chris was good before all the injuries. But Dillon was just more talented, and it showed. Their offense would have been better with Dillon. Though i guess he went downhill pretty quick in 05/06, so maybe it worked out best for the Bengals anyway. I just liked Corey.

I think you need to connect the dots for me.
Turnobili
Joe Thomas and Barry Sanders stand out to me as the all-timers in this category. Nnamdi is one of the bigger ones of this generation. Would also throw out Calvin but he did make the playoffs twice. Edited May 7, 2020 by Turnobili
Uncle Buck
Jamarcus Russell - That Raiders team that drafted him was horrible. His talent was completely wasted.

For notable Vikings players, you could substitute Adrian Peterson for Jared.
