Ty21
I was trolling the old archives and came across a Brett Favre to Jets thread and it made me wonder how much success he would’ve had on other teams rosters. 2008 Cardinals - 9-7 QB Kurt Warner RB Edgerrin James WRs Larry Fitzgerald - Anquan Bolton - Steve Breaston TE Leonard Pope Offensive rank 4th Defensive rank 28th 2008 49ers - 7-9 QB Shaun Hill RB Frank Gore WRs Isaac Bruce - Bryant Johnson TE Vernon Davis Offensive rank 22nd Defensive rank 23rd 2008 Seahawks - 4-12 QB Seneca Wallace RB Julius Jones - Maurice Morris WRs Bobby Engram - Koren Robinson TE John Carlson Offensive rank 25th Defensive rank 25th 2008 Rams - 2-14 QB Marc Bulger RB Steven Jackson WRs Torry Holt - Donnie Avery TE Joe Klopfenstein Offensive rank 30th Defensive rank 31st 2008 Giants - 12-4 QB Eli Manning RB Brandon Jacobs - Derrick Ward WRs Steve Smith - Amani Toomer - Plaxico Burress TE Kevin Boss Offensive rank 3rd Defensive rank 5th 2008 Eagles - 9-6-1 QB Donovan McNabb RB Brian Westbrook WRs DeSean Jackson - Hank Baskett TE Brent Celek Offensive rank 6th Defensive rank 4th 2008 Cowboys - 9-7 QB Tony Romo RB Marion Barber WRs Terrell Owens - Patrick’s Crayton TE Jason Witten Offensive rank 18th Defensive rank 20th 2008 Redskins - 8-8 QB Jason Campbell RB Clinton Portis WRs Santana Moss - Antwaan Randle El TE Chris Cooley Offensive rank 28th Defensive rank 6th 2008 Vikings - 10-6 QB Gus Frerotte RB Adrian Peterson WRs Bernard Berrian - Bobby Wade TE Visanthe Shiancoe Offensive Rank 12th Defensive Rank 13th 2008 Bears - 9-7 QB Kyle Orton RB Matt Forte WRs Devin Hester - Rashied Davis TE Greg Olsen Offensive Rank 14th Defensive Rank 16th 2008 Packers - 6-10 QB Aaron Rodgers RB Ryan Grant WRs Greg Jennings - Donald Driver TE Donald Lee Offensive Rank 5th Defensive Rank 22nd 2008 Lions - 0-16 QB Dan Orlovsky RB Kevin Smith WRs Calvin Johnson - Shaun McDonald TE Michael Gaines Offensive Rank 27th Defensive Rank 32nd 2008 Panthers 12-4 QB Jake Delhomme RB Deangelo Williams - Jonathan Stewart WRs Steve Smith - Muhsin Muhammad TE Dante Rosario Offensive Rank 7th Defensive Rank 12th 2008 Falcons 11-5 QB Matt Ryan RB Michael Turner WRs Roddy White - Michael Jenkins TE Justin Peelle Offensive Rank 10th Defensive Rank 11th 2008 Buccaneers 9-7 QB Jeff Garcia RB Warrick Dunn WRs Antonio Bryant - Michael Clayton TE Jerammy Stevens Offensive Rank 19th Defensive Rank 10th 2008 Saints 8-8 QB Drew Brees RB Pierre Thomas WRs Lance Moore - Devery Henderson TE Jeremy Shockey Offensive Rank 1st Defensive Rank 26th 2008 Dolphins - 11-5 QB Chad Pennington RB Ronnie Brown - Ricky Williams WRs Ted Ginn - Greg Camarillo TE Anthony Fasano Offensive Rank 21st Defensive Rank 9th 2008 Patriots - 11-5 QB Matt Cassel RB Sammy Morris - Kevin Faulk WRs Wes Walker - Randy Moss TE Ben Watson Offensive Rank 8th Defensive Rank 8th 2008 Bills 7-9 QB Trent Edwards RB Marshawn Lynch - Fred Jackson WRs Lee Evans - Josh Reed TE Robert Royal Offensive Rank 23rd Defensive Rank 14th 2008 Steelers 12-4 QB Ben Roethlisberger RB Wilie Parker - Mewelde Moore WRs Hines Ward - Santonio Holmes TE Heath Miller Offensive Rank 20th Defensive Rank 1st 2008 Ravens 11-5 QB Joe Flacco RB Le’ron McClain - Willis McGahee - Ray Rice WRs Derrick Mason - Mark Clayton TE Todd Heap Offensive Rank 11th Defensive Rank 3rd 2008 Bengals 4-11-1 QB Ryan Fitzpatrick RB Cedric Benson WRs Chad Johnson - TJ Houshmandzadeh TE Reggie Kelly Offensive Rank 32nd Defensive Rank 19th 2008 Browns 4-12 QB Derek Anderson RB Jamal Lewis WRs Braylon Edwards - Syndric Steptoe TE Kellen Winslow Offensive Rank 31st Defensive Rank 17th 2008 Chargers 8-8 QB Philip Rivers RB LaDainian Tomlinson - Darren Sproles WRs Vincent Jackson - Malcom Floyd TE Antonio Gates Offensive Rank 2nd Defensive Rank 15th 2008 Broncos 8-8 QB Jay Cutler RB Peyton Hillis WRs Brandon Marshall - Eddie Royal TE Tony Scheffler Offensive Rank 16th Defensive Rank 30th 2008 Raiders 5-11 QB Jamarcus Russell RB Justin Fargas - Darren McFadden WRs Ronald Curry - Chaz Schilens TE Zach Miller Offensive Rank 29th Defensive Rank 24th 2008 Chiefs 2-14 QB Tyler Thigpen RB Larry Johnson - Jamaal Charles WRs Dwayne Bowe - Mark Bradley TE Tony Gonzales Offensive Rank 26th Defensive Rank 29th 2008 Titans 13-3 QB Kerry Collins - Vince Young RB Chris Johnson - Lendale White WRs Justin Gage - Brandon Jones TE Bo Scaife Offensive Rank 15th Defensive Rank 2nd 2008 Colts 12-4 QB Peyton Manning RB Joseph Addai - Dominic Rhodes WRs Reggie Wayne - Marvin Harrison TE Dallas Clark Offensive Rank 13th Defensive Rank 7th 2008 Texans 8-8 QB Matt Schaub RB Steve Slaton WRs Andre Johnson - Kevin Walter TE Owen Daniels Offensive Rank 17th Defensive Rank 27th 2008 Jaguars 5-11 QB David Garrard RB Maurice Jones Drew - Fred Taylor WRs Matt Jones - Dennis Northcut TE Mercedes Lewis Offensive Rank 24th Defensive Rank 21st Which teams would’ve improved with Favre on their roster instead of NYJ? Which would’ve stayed the same? Which would’ve gotten worse? At this point Favre still had two decent years ahead of him. 2008 he was a bit off cause the jets suck and 2009 he had one of his best statistical seasons ever.

Having a ~great qb in Carolina or Tennessee might’ve pushed them to the Super Bowl.
Elky
Favre was playing great and had the Jets on track to make the playoffs until he injured his shoulder. Virtually all of the teams that just needed a QB would have been in the playoffs without Favre getting injured. SteelKing728
Favre could have got Carolina, Arizona, New England or Tennessee over the top and win it all. With the 08 Vikings, we'd lose in the Superbowl. With the lions, they would win a few and miss out on Stafford, and end up with...Josh Freeman. Elky
If Arizona couldn't win it all with Kurt Warner I don't see why they'd win it with another geezer. Edited May 15, 2020 by Elky
GW21
Quote 2008 49ers - 7-9 QB Shaun Hill RB Frank Gore WRs Isaac Bruce - Bryant Johnson TE Vernon Davis Offensive rank 22nd Defensive rank 23rd Man I haven't heard that name in quite some time. I guess probably since like, I don't know, 2008 or so.
SalvadorsDeli
The Titans had the best record in the NFL at 13-3 before going 1 and done in the playoffs with the corpse of Kerry Collins playing game manager for them so they seem like the obvious choice. The one thing that I think should probably be qualified here is that Favre wasn't particularly great for the Jets that year, especially not compared to what he was able to do with the Vikings a year later. Think part of that comes down to the fact that those retirement sagas dragged well into the offseason and training camp - Favre only became a Jet about a month before the season started. It was the same with Minnesota but he was able to pretty seamlessly transition into their offense because he had worked with Darrell Bevell before in GB and knew the offense already. That wouldn't have been the case in Tennessee in 2008 either if they had traded for him so even with a better supporting cast you're still getting something closer to his Jets version than the guy who showed up for the Vikings a year later. Still, he would have been better than Kerry Collins and that Titans team didn't need him to be amazing given they had a dominant 2-headed running game and an elite defense, so he likely would have been a gamechanger for them in terms of being able to better compete in the playoffs against the elite Ravens and Steelers defenses of that year.
