Vikings S Anthony Harris signs tender at $11 mil+

Recommended Posts

Minnesota Vikings safety Anthony Harris has signed his franchise tender, a source told ESPN on Sunday. By signing the tender, Harris will be paid a guaranteed salary of $11,441,000 for the 2020 season. Harris and the Vikings have until the July 15 deadline to agree to a long-term contract.

On Sunday, Harris posted a statement on Twitter that indicated he likely had signed his tender: "I will let my agents and the Vikings work towards long term certainty in Minnesota, but I am excited to be back for the 2020 season."

You may not be wrong but they are asked to do different things in Zimmer’s scheme. Smith and Harris compliment each other very well. Smith is often lined up on the closed side of the field, often attacking the LOS. Harris seems to get more opportunities to cover more range and he’s done a great job in being opportunistic. Smith is a bit older so you’d expect him to decline before Harris, so you’d expect at some point for Harris to surpass Smith, maybe thats already happened. It has in compensation.

You are not wrong.  I actually thought this offseason was the time to trade Harrison.  As great as he has been for us throughout his career, I noticed a tiny bit of decline in him in 2019.  As they say, it's better to trade them a year too early than a year too late.  It is one of the things that Bill Belichick has been great at.

Yeah that's what I saw when I watched Harrison this past season. Been a hell of a career. With that said, Anthony Harris is a star in the making. Vikings aren't wrong for doing what they can to retain him.

I love Harrison Smith, but I thought Anthony Harris was the best Safety in the league last year.

The Vikes can afford to keep both given the losses at CB. Keeping Harris over say, Trae Waynes was the right move. Harris was a late bloomer though as he’s already 28 after just two years as a starter.
