How do you get him to flatten the curve?

@Uncle Buck likes curves, he doesn't want them to be flattened.

Yes, the 'curve' posted by UB should be flatter.  Not because Smith's production has declined (rapidly), but because the variance from the early low points to later year projections isn't as great as is depicted.  It also may not be a normal curve, but may be log-normal-shaped.

Regardless of the proper shape, Smith's production curve lies far above similar curves of lesser safeties in the NFL, and slightly above a few other (near) elite NFL safeties  .

One of the reasons I don’t care to discuss comparisons is the disrespect this man gets. The NFL never talks about how great he is. This guy is easily top 3 safety in the league, but media rarely highlights him.

That's because he doesn't talk all that much.  You gotta have a flamboyant personality to be able to get more attention.  They don't want to cover guys who just do their job and then go home.

Winning a Super Bowl wouldn't hurt either.

If Harry played for Dallas or Pittsburgh, he’s a first ballot Hall of Famer with the likes of Reed and Polomalu. But he plays in MN. So he may have to wait 5 or 6 years.

Smith isn’t going to get into the Hall of Fame. He likely will find a spot in the Vikings Ring of Honor, but he’s not Canton bound.

I agree that he likely won’t make it. Kinda crazy when you compare his career to Troy Polamalu’s, a first ballot HOFer.

He just doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.i think he’d need at least 3 more years of great play and a SB to get in.

It’s really not that crazy when comparing their careers at all. They really aren’t close.

Smith has played 8 seasons, starting 113 games. He has 5 Pro Bowls and 2 All Pros (1 first team and 1 second team) on his resume.

In comparison, Polamalu through his first eight seasons had started 91 games (didn’t start as a rookie), was a 6 time Pro Bowler, 5 time All Pro (3 first team and 2 second team), and a Defensive Player of the Year. Not to mention he was an integral part of Pittsburgh’s three Super Bowl teams within those 8 years.

Harry needed to be more hairy.
