An inconsistent QB is a bad QB. That's genuinely one of the last things you want your QB to be.

I’m far from a Baker apologist. But he’s at this point likely an average NFL starting quarterback in his third different system with his fourth different head coach in 36 career games. I’m giving him the rest of 2020 and likely 1/2 of 2021. JMHO

Like seriously what does baker do well? He doesn’t have a great arm, he doesn’t have great pocket presence, he’s not very accurate and he’s a horrible decision maker slightly below Jameis Winston level. And I think Jameis is more talented.

He folds like a cheap suit when facing great defenses

Agreed 100%.

He’s not? He’s completed 61.7% of his passes in his career.

He’s a bad decision maker. To say he’s below Jameis is a joke though.

33 minutes ago, CP3MVP said:

Jameis is talented from a physical tool standpoint. He’s also mentally inept.

33 minutes ago, CP3MVP said:

Agreed.

We will see what he does down the stretch this year and the first half of 2021. If he cleans up his pocket presence/footwork and can recognize pressure, he will be good. If not, the Browns will be drafting a new quarterback in 2022.

Football Outsider also states that Baker has faced 4 top8 DVOA passing defenses. (Wash/Balt/Pitt/Indy) No other NFL QB has faced more than 3.

BigBen is ranked 20th. Lamer Jackson is ranked 23rd.

Baker had a bad 2nd season. This is obvious. He is about a 63.5% passer in years 1 and 3 combined. Pretending he has terrible accuracy is lame.

Even Daniel Jones at 61.9% in his first 23 games is not terrible.

  • Jones is a really bad QB because he has 19 picks, 28 fumbles, and lots of failed 4th down attempts.

FYI - The 4 best QBs of 2020 are ranked 4th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd in completion percentage.

Teddy is 3rd in completion percentage. Is he a good QB this year?

Thru first 5 games for the Bucs the past 2 seasons:

Winston: 61.4% 8.3yds/pass 11-5 td-int 97.2 pass rating 3-0 fumbles-lost (2-3) record

Brady: 64.3% 7.0yds/pass 12-4 td-int 96.8 pass rating 4-1 fumbles-lost (3-2) record

Basically the Bucs got a more expensive version of Winston right now with one more win. They brought in Brady to be better than what Winston was and he is basically the same. Oh and if the Chargers didn’t have a meltdown being up 24-7 right before the half maybe Brady and the Bucs would’ve been (2-3) as well. Crazy just thinking about it lol.

2019 Winston: 2 wins 5 losses 153-263 for 58.17%  with 2972 yards at 7.88 per pass with 14 TDs 12 picks for an 82.1 rating. 28 sacks 8 fumbles 3 lost

2020 Brady 5 wins 2 losses 176-268 for 65.67% with 1910 yards at 7.13 per pass with 18 TDs 4 picks for a 102.7 rating. 8 sacks 4 fumbles 1 lost

Agreed 100%.

He’s not? He’s completed 61.7% of his passes in his career.

He’s a bad decision maker. To say he’s below Jameis is a joke though.

Jameis is talented from a physical tool standpoint. He’s also mentally inept.

Agreed.

We will see what he does down the stretch this year and the first half of 2021. If he cleans up his pocket presence/footwork and can recognize pressure, he will be good. If not, the Browns will be drafting a new quarterback in 2022.

1.)FO ranks him 21 in DVOA, so no I wouldn’t consider him 15-20. Considering his cast as well.

2.)Baker does not have a top 5 arm in the league.

3.)You really cited completion percentage to determine accuracy. Cam newton is completing 67% of his passes this year btw.

4.)Jameis career interception percentage is 3.5%, Baker is 3.4%. I see no difference between their mental abilities. Again, their career stats across the board in the major categories are absolutely comparable 3 seasons in.
