Browns are now 1-9 when Baker throws the ball 40+ times in his career.

It's almost like the point Ravens fans were trying to make to Browns fans the past few years in those Baker vs. Lamar threads  - that any quarterback being forced to drop back and throw 40-50 times a game is more likely to lose (unless you're a Manning/Brees/Mahomes type) and not just Lamar Jackson - was right.

The "he needs to win games solely with his arm, dropping back and throwing it 40+ times before I admit he's a good quarterback" argument was always absurd. For any QB, not just Lamar. You're throwing 40+ times in a game most likely because your running game has been ineffective and/or you're down a majority of the game. Both situations that don't typically lend themselves to winning a lot of games.

Travis Kelce now holds the record for most yards in a season by a TE. Pending the game tonight, he may also hold the league lead in receiving yards. No TE has ever led the league in yardage. Kelce leads DeAndre Hopkins by 44 yards going into the final game and everyone else is at least 90 yards back. Stefon Diggs is 102 yards behind, but he has two games remaining. Kelce needs 84 yards for 1500 yards, which has never been done. this would also place him in the top 50 receiving seasons in NFL history. Kelce needs 81 yards to make #50 and 105 yards to make #40.

Mahomes needs 260 yards to make 5000 for the second time. There are twelve 5000 yards seasons in history and only Drew Brees (5) has done it more than once. Mahomes is already at #32 all time for passing yards in a season.

What people love to parrot:

  • Brady never made the Super Bowl without a bye (this is true at 0-4)

What people can't be bothered to follow up with:

  • Rodgers has never made the Super Bowl with a bye (0-3)
  • Brees has made it to the Super Bowl once with a bye (1-3)
  • Wilson made it to the Super Bowl with every bye so far (2-2)
  • Goff (or backup) has never made it to the Super Bowl without a bye
  • Kyler Murray has never been in the playoffs
  • Alex Smith has never been to the Super Bowl (thanks, Kyle!)
  • Andy Dalton may be the worst playoff QB in NFL History
  • Daniel Jones has never made the playoffs
  • Trubisky has never been to the Super Bowl (and Foles had a bye)

FYI: Here are the 4 teams that beat Brady without a bye

  • 2005 Broncos with the 3rd ranked scoring D (15th in yards) at home in thin air
    • Brady is 0-2 in Denver with a bye
  • 2009 Ravens with the 3rd ranked scoring D (3rd in yards)
    • The 2011 Ravens (3rd points 3rd yards) had him beat with a bye
      • Dude dropped the game winning TD pass in his hands (it was knocked away late) and Cundiff shanked a chip shot FG for OT
  • 2010 Jets with the 6th ranked scoring D (3rd in yards)
  • The only strange one was the 2006 AFCCG against a bad Indy D that turned it on big time in the playoffs. (Turbo Bob Sanders)
    • Those Colts gave up 31 total points and scored 7 themselves in the other 3 playoff games. Brady and co. put up 34 on them in a 4 point loss.
    • Brady was up 21-6 at the half so good luck to anyone trailing 21-6 to the Bucs at the half this year.
    • That game was so weird that a couple O-lineman and a D-lineman all scored TDs

The only NFC teams with a top 6 scoring D are the Rams and WFT.

  • The Saints are 9th
  • Bears 10th
  • Giants 11th
  • Hawks, Cards, Pack are 14,15,16
  • The Hawks could possibly fit that Bob Sanders type overachieving D with Jamal Adams, Dunlap, and Wagner

So if the moral of the story is that Tampa at Seattle might be tough for Brady then I could see that.

Anything else is close to meaningless.

Trubisky's Strength of Schedule in his starts this year is 30-75 (.286)

  • Det x2, NYG, Atl, Min, Hou, Jax
  • No playoff hunt teams

Foles SoS was 73-47 (.608)

  • Ind, Tampa, Car, Rams, NO, Ten, Min, GB
  • 6 playoff hunt teams

Trubisky's SoS this week is 12-3 (.800)

FYI, The scoring defenses Trubisky has faced are ranked

  • 32, 32, 31, 28, 26, 19, 11
    • He was benched against the 19th D

Don't hold your breath for a big Trubisky game this week and a deep playoff run.

They'll also use the playoff argument against Lamar too. When Baker has never made the playoffs... You also never hear Josh Allen get talked down because he hasn't won a playoff game either.

The rules are different for Lamar Jackson.
