Aside from this:

Which, to be fair to your point, you're talking specifically about PASSING plays...it is noteworthy to say that we did almost all of that with JB at the helm.

Yeah, just pass plays, our run game has been great.  I also think the idea of a 10 yard run and a 20 yard pass being weighted the same is kinda dumb.  Yards are yards.

Based on that graphic an 11 yard run is weighted equally to say a 60 yard reception.  Like, they’re not the same lol.

I think a good portion of that is on the QB and WR position(s). Given that we had a good many GM's intentionally neglect the WR position via the draft and/or had a QB who couldn't hit those big chunk plays in Mayfield,

He actually did really well with this in like 2018 throwing to Perriman, Calloway, etc.

coupled with dudes that we traded for not panning out (OBJ), and here we are.

Yeah, has to happen.  We need more easy scores.  We can’t continue to expect the offense to drive the ball, down the field for 12-15 plays or some ish.

He also understands and acknowledges that we need to do a better job of that this year. I think on paper Elijah Moore gives this team that missing dimension of a vertical threat, coupled with DPJ and Cooper on the outside.

Goodwin too. He’s older and limited, but he’s still a legit burner.  The TE from Houston had some nice highlights also.  Definitely more than Bryant or Carlson or Hooper recently.

What's interesting to me is that I think we're going to go away from the 2 TE look and go heavy 3x1 while still maintaining a lot of motion and other concepts presnap.

As in using a TE in the slot I assume?  Akins and Njoku are athletic, it could be really nice.  Hard to defend to, you’re pretty much required to cover those dudes with a linebacker or you’re really exposed in the run game.

Especially with the rules in today's league, no doubt.

But that wasn't with KS and IMO, it's a pretty clear outlier in his 5 year NFL career.

I think the scripted first drives are awesome and then after that, there's a noticeable dropoff, which needs to result in more of those explosive scores or at least explosive plays that result in 7 points.

Goodwin is a guy who I think is likely a one trick pony, but if that one trick is keeping a safety out of the box and occasionally doing something, that's fine with me.

Yeah, I think you'll see a lot of Cooper, DPJ, Moore, and Njoku personnel packages and less of the Cooper, DPJ, Njoku, and Bryant/Atkins packages. Unless they want Atkins and Njoku as their 2 TE personnel and then flex Njoku in the slot, which wouldn't be bad either, especially down in the Red Zone where you have the run/pass scoring threat by making defenses pick and choose their personnel.

Not a lot of guys averaged over 25 yards a return. There’s no real incentive to have a kickoff return specialist. Just focus on punt return teams.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/player/_/view/special/table/returning/sort/yardsPerKickReturn/dir/desc

Absolutely no reason to bring a kick out at this point tbh.

At this point all the kicking team can do is try to kick the ball as high as possible and as funky as possible and hope the returner muffs the fair catch.

This is going to be such a stupid formality most of the time.  Just give he team the option of taking it at the 25 unless the opposing team wants to try an onside kick and move the game along.

commercial -> fair catch -> commercial is gonna be mind numbing.

But yeah, focus on punt teams. Gotta wonder how much this impacts the makeup of rosters too.  Guys we signed like Adams and Ford and their special teams prowess is going to have a diminished impact.

It depends on their skill set. If they’re great gunners like Ford allegedly is, they’ll stick around.

I want us to keep those special teams guys Ventrone wants. So Adams and Ford should stay.

I don’t disagree.  It would be nice to get back to actually having special teams that can make big plays and maybe win you a game every now and then.

At a minimum just not lose us games

The only special teams stud we might not keep is Jordan Kunaszyk.

I sincerely hope he gets beaten out by Charlie Thomas (UDFA Rookie). I love Thomas & think he has the physical upside to contribute at actual linebacker, whereas Kunaszyk is pure ST.
