Sllim Pickens
Seeing a lot of various mocks with the Vandy pitchers dropping to 4-7. I really hope the Tigers don't let Leiter get past 3. Would be nice to have a SS of the future but hoping we get one of the top pitchers more than another 3/4 year higher risk prospect.

I have Bednar as a top 20 player and the best healthy college pitcher behind the Vandy duo. I know other sites have him as a late 1st guy and have the likes of Madden, Bachman, Wicks, and Cusak ahead of him, but I like him better. He doesnt have the heater that Bachman has, and is still working on a good changeup, but Bednar is a bulldog. He goes after hitters. Doesnt back down, and hits his spots with his 92-95 heater and plus slider. A lot of the Mississippi State pitchers have this same mentality and I love it. High floor and a #2 ceiling if he can continue to progress with his change up. I tried to do the mock on who it looks like the Mariners are looking at, and like always, they are going after a college pitcher or hitter at #12 and to me, Bednar makes the most sense to me when you look at who is available, his helium, and Seattle's history. Bachman and Cusak, two guys with major reliever attributes, dont seem to be the type of guys Seattle would take. Not with how we develop pitching. I'd rather just take Jaden Hill at 33 and gamble that he can be more than just a high leverage reliever. I think we'd be the team to gamble on Jud Fabian there. We did it with Turang and Mitchell so Fabian fits. EDIT - I also think we'd target Pacheco at 33 if he's there. We have a massive need at 3B in the system. I think its more likely that Fabian slips out of the first round than him going top 20. The swing and miss is huge. I know if you've watched Florida baseball in the SEC Tournament or in May, you hear "Fabian is back hitting. He isnt striking out like before." He might not be striking out 40% of the time now, but he still is missing balls down the middle of the plate, off the plate; pretty much anywhere. 15-59, 6 HR, 2 2B, 21 K, 15 BB. Thats his line for May. I dont understand your love for Hill over Huglund. Hill had 10 great innings in 2020 and never found that player in 21 before getting hurt. We really dont even know if he is a starting pitcher since those 10 great innings last year came out of the pen. No history as a starter and a injury? No thanks. Hoglund pitched almost a whole year in the SEC and was probably the best pitcher before getting injured. His fastball velo was up all year from previous years and he held it in games. Two above average to plus off speed pitches and great pitchability? He was going top 7 before the injury, and TJS is not some crippling injury now. We routinely take guys with 40-45 hit tools. 2 minutes ago, devils1854 said: I dont understand your love for Hill over Huglund. It's about draft spot. If we can get Hoglund under slot due to the injury? Sure. He's fine. I don't "love" Jaden Hill, I "love" his tools. It's a worthy gamble at 33. Hoglund's safe, sure. I'm not going to get bent outta shape if we take him. I'd just prefer going a different route at 15. We need upside bats more than arms so I'd rather gamble on Baez or Wood. beekay414
15. Joshua Baez | RF | Dexter Southfield (MA) 33. Izaac Pacheco | 3B | Friendswood (TX) 51. Matt Mikulski | LHP | Fordham 86. Grant Holman | RHP | California That's how I'd have the Brewers drafting. High upside impact power bat at 15, left handed power bat that'll stick at 3B, power LHP with tools to work with and a huge RHP with upside. Sllim Pickens
Quote DETROIT 3.Detroit-Jack Leiter||RHP||Vanderbilt 32.Detroit-Justice Thompson||CF||North Carolina 39.Detroit-Jaden Hill||RHP||LSU 74.Detroit-Wes Clarke||1B||South Carolina This would be a great haul for the Tigers. I really hope we take Leiter if available. I'm guessing with Manning stumbling some and no other pitchers in the minors being in the top 10 in our farm system will lead them to look at pitchers again in this draft. Adding a rising OF and a longer term project with Hill and his injury it would definitely get me more excited for our future.
hrubes20
I would be thrilled if Wood is the pick for the Cubs. He's Aaron Judge if he can make a little more contact.
THE DUKE
I don't know much about this draft or Ford, but I can definitely see the Reds targeting a catcher. They've done an excellent job drafting and developing catchers over the last 15 or so years and Ford would be ready about when Tyler Stephenson starts to get expensive if he can be what we hope. Even if Stephenson makes it long term, he's a 6'4" catcher. Catchers that tall tend to have an expiration date at the position, and Stephenson has already played some 1B while Votto has been hurt. Josh Baez seems like the projectable, athletic high schooler with plus raw power much like Nolan Gorman and Jordan Walker. And seems like a fairly safe bet to stick in the cOF spots. Schrier seems like a solid pick, but I think they'll take him if they think he'll play up the middle. Right now, the Cardinals are pretty flush with 3B prospects through the system and Nolan Arenado under control for the foreseeable future. Marceaux doesn't really seem like the Cardinals' pitcher. Smaller pitcher with average stuff and doesn't make up for it with elite control seems unlikely to be the pick. Hartle seems like a good gamble. beekay414
Tyler Black was amazing in Wright State's regional and Kiley McDaniel has him as the 18th overall prospect in the entire class. He could definitely be a 1st round under slot type at this rate.
