naptownskinsfan
Who would've thought he would have trade value? I guess things change with the Covid offseason. Quote There are teams interested in Anderson. Realistically, Washington might land a sixth or seventh-round selection for a defender, not considered a playmaker or edge rusher. However, the unique offseason could raise the trade value for any veteran. Coaches like rookies on draft day, but want veterans on gameday especially coaches for contenders. The Chargers, Seahawks and Patriots selected a linebacker in the first two rounds of April’s draft. “Now we’ve got no practices, so the rookies can’t even get on the field,” said a notable source. “If I needed a linebacker, I’d consider a fifth for Anderson. He’s good, not special, but players respect guys like him because they’re tough and play for the team. He’s produced in the NFL, unlike a rookie. He’s young, cheap and can play.” If we could get a fifth for Anderson, I'd be laughing all of the way to the bank. Hilarious, especially considering that was the market rate for Quinton Dunbar. RSkinGM
I'm not in favor of trading him . I'd like to see what the new coaches can do to use him . I think he's a bluecollar tough guy that's gives his all and you need those types .

turtle28
I wouldn’t trade him and I don’t think Rivera will, Rivera watched the tape At the end of the year & saw first hand Anderson play well vs his own Panthers. I think Anderson is the back up SLB this year and Thomas Davis helps groom him and the other young LBs. It wouldn’t shock me if next year that Anderson is our starting SLB. Also, Jon Allen said that this scheme fits Anderson better and he expects Anderson to have a break out season - I don’t expect that - but, Allen doesn’t just say things on a whim. Allen would have thought this out and probably had conversations with Rivera, DelRio & Mills or all of the D has together and heard them say they think Anderson could be a breakout player. Anderson is a fundamentally and cerebral player, he's not the best athlete but, somehow he shows up about the ball often, he's been stuck behind good starters for years - namely Kerrigan - switching positions to SLB and learning from Thomas Davis will be a good thing from him this year. Thaiphoon
If we could get anything higher than a 6th for him, I'll pack his bags myself.

lavar703
If he’s not going to make the team, which we don’t know yet, I’d definitely take a 5th and be done with it. I just don’t see him developing beyond what we’ve seen.
ripsean21
I try and get him on the field if I’m this staff highlight him to let him walk get a high comp just play the comp game whatever he does he’s a talented piece Incase of injury and any time his name is mentioned just means by the trade deadline if he does produce or if we don’t trade him maybe we get a good comp

If we actually look at what Anderson did after Kerrigan got hurt last year, we should actually be bullish on him, but even in all my optimism, I’m not that high on him. In Final 6 games, this is Ryan Anderson’s production: 24 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 7 QB hits and 4 forced fumbles In 6 games, so what's not to like there? For the same reasons why most of us have high hopes for players like Steven Sims & Guice if he stays healthy, we should have the same cautious optimism about Anderson.
Boarman1
Don't trade a second round talent if we have to, we had to trade Cravens because we had to Give Anderson time to develop

His value is going up because he's cheap depth for a contender this season, especially with the concerns around Covid. I would rather maximize his worth right now instead of letting him walk for nothing.

He's going to be cheap depth and maybe develop into a starter in the future. Trading him away - if it looks like he’ll make the team - hurts depth at two positions, SLB & DE. At this point, I don't think Anderson would cost a lot to keep as a FA next year, and if Anderson ends up commanding a larger contract that will be bc he did have a breakout season in the way Dunny did in 2017 when he finally got to start bc we didn't re-sign Breeland for some stupid reason. I don’t really expect Anderson to do much, but I also don’t think he’s bad depth. And, Why trade away our depth? If Anderson is good enough to be cheap depth on a contender, then why wouldn’t we want him as cheap depth? He’s certainly more valuable than a late round draft pick and I think Rivera & Del Rio are going to fall in love with Anderson’s lunch box mentality as a reserve DE or SLB. This is the last year of his rookie deal. He's a FA after this.
