Packerraymond Posted June 25, 2020 Share Posted June 25, 2020 There will be football, probably not with fans, but we're to a point now where economics are and should be taken into consideration and cancelling a football season would cripple many small businesses in these cities. Not sure if Green Bay itself could survive TBH. It quite the powerful driver isn't it ? GB the team will be fine; they have an emergency fund for this exact scenario. But the hotels, bars, restaurants etc don't have hundreds of millions set aside to get them through this pandemic. If the NFL plays the games without the fans, it helps the owners but it really doesn't help the local economies as noted by the spaceman The players will be motivated for Game 1, that's when their salary for the season becomes guaranteed. Tbh rescheduling every one's schedule where teams don't need to travel as much. Group teams into bubbles for 4 weeks then move to the next grouped bubble. N4L Posted June 25, 2020 Share Posted June 25, 2020 I echo the sentiment that the NFL will happen this season. There is too much money at stake not to. Players will get sick but the show must go on. Players will just need to isolate themselves from at risk family members until the end. Its unfortunate but it thats what they will have to do. There are plenty of couples out there who are quarantining apart, nurses where their spouse is in an at risk group, and those people are not making anywhere near the amount that even the rookies are getting paid. You also have no where to actually play multiple games at the same time in the same city. You cant just play in some random college stadium because a lot of them werent designed for the same TV/broadcasts that modern stadiums are. It sounds great... until you really dive into it. just not going to work. There isnt the infrastructure anywhere to make this a viable option. That is putting too many eggs in the same basket. You cant have a 4 week bubble. thats not how a bubble would work. by the time the bubble actually was known to be 'safe' (2 weeks after entering with no positive tests) the players would leave a few weeks later. (4 team bubbles) Increase crowd capacity each week up to 50% If a game ends with players testing positive for covid 19 the next week, postpone that division games. 2 week bye for everyone to reevaluate. Phase 2 Weeks 4-7 common division conference games. (8 team bubbles) 2 week bye for everyone, reevaluate. Makeup games from earlier missed games if any. Again if players test positive, postpone both division effected. Phase 3 Weeks 8-16 Rest of the schedule with 1 more bye week unless makeupgames needed. Last 3 division games favored towards last few weeks. 2 weeks for makeup games if needed. Playoffs Hopefully normal?????????
