Should Bill Belichick be banned from football?

With yet another fine and penalty for cheating, I think it's time for the NFL to lay the hammer on the guy.

If Pete Rose can be banned from baseball despite being the all time hits leader, then Belichick should be banned for cheating.

You're not even comparing apples and oranges here. Do you know why Pete Rose was banned for life?

He bet on games while he was a manager, but he's being banned as both a player and manager.

Belicheat is an active cheater that isn't being properly punished for compromising the integrity of the game.

Pete should not be banned from baseball, and neither should Bill be banned from the NFL. That said, their transgressions are worlds apart. One broke the rules to gain personal financial advantage, the other has broken the rules repeatedly to gain tactical advantage over 31 other teams. Bill is far worse, and it's not even close.

Partially correct. The other part? He AGREED to the lifetime ban.

Had he fought it, he'd probably be reinstated by now. Why didn't he fight it, you ask? Because a full on investigation would have revealed decades of tax evasion - which would land him in jail for the rest of his life, given he was gambling $10,000 a day and winning big given he was in position to influence wins and losses.

But there's nothing illegal about that. Unethical, sure.

Apparently the NFL cares.

What I meant to say is, despite all of Belichick’s grievances, this incident isn’t “lifetime ban” worthy; far from.

It’s legal for NFL teams to film opponents sidelines from designated filming locations. These Patriot employees did not film from said location, thus the punishment. It was deserved. But like I said, who cares? This thread is uncalled for.

Gambling on sports that you are playing, coaching, or have some sort of hand in the outcome of, is THE ultimate mortal sin in the sporting world. Nothing else touches it. Nothing else can so decisively annihilate the integrity of a sport than the possibility that one of the teams, or somebody on one of the teams, may deliberately trying to lose games. The house of cards would come crumbling down fast.
