Should Bill Belichick be banned from football?

You understand that HoF HC Jimmy Johnson did the same thing during his tenure in Dallas, right?

https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/cowboys/2015/09/12/troy-aikman-jimmy-johnson-filmed-signals-as-head-coach-of-the-dallas-cowboys/

Or how about Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher, for letting a steroids culture take over Pittsburgh, on their way to five SBs?

Or Jerry Rice - the greatest receiver of all time - and his admission to using Stickum, a banned substance?

So, that's the 70s Steelers, 80s 49ers and 90s Cowboys. Each "dynasty" was aided in some capacity, no different than the '00/'10 Patriots.

So if we're vacating HoF spots for this, get your U Haul ready - there are a lot of things that need to be removed from Canton.

Another blatant troll, that Sandperson. Slightly more subtle than Ramblin', but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a multi.

Spygate 1

SUMMARY: The Patriots were disciplined for videotaping their September 9, 2007 regular-season 38-14 road victory against the New York Jets from the wrong location. The Patriots filmed from an unapproved sideline location instead of from an approved indoor location.

Coincidentally, the Jets had engaged in the same filming activity during their November 12, 2006 regular season game against the Patriots in Foxborough. During that game, a Jets cameraman was caught filming the game and Patriots signals and removed from the stadium. A year later, as a form of payback, the Jets flagged the Patriots for the same activity.

Videotaping your opponents offensive and defensive signals during a game is not prohibited by the league, even today. (emphasis mine - video taping a sideline to learn play signals for future reference is not same as stealing pitch signals in real time).

It's not about not doing it.  It is about location.  With modern cameras location is practically meaningless.   They can all see what they need to see.

They were fined $750k (500 to BB) and docked a first round pick.  Not exactly nothing.

The filming occurred at the Bengals game at Cleveland on Dec. 8 of last season. The Bengals hosted the Patriots the following week and lost 34-13.

When the taping became known last season, the team said at the time a three-person crew producing a web series titled “Do Your Job” “inappropriately filmed the field from the press box” as part of a feature on the scouting department.

The filming took place “without specific knowledge of league rules,” the statement said.

Also, the team’s statement last season said that while they were granted credentials for the crew from the Browns, “our failure to inform the Bengals and the league was an unintended oversight.”

When confronted, the team said the crew “immediately turned over all footage to the league and cooperated fully.”

At the time, Patriots coach Bill Belichick says neither he nor his coaching staff had watched any of the video footage.

Fined 1.1 million and lost a 3rd round pick.

They also don't properly report their injuries - which they are not alone there either.  For which they lost another 3rd round pick.

I am not even going to rehash deflate gate which is a joke.  A football with low PSI?   Come on.

But they lost a first and a fourth round pick and Brady for 4 games and huge fines.    That isn't enough?  You want blood too?

I am not a Patriots fan, but their 'cheating' is not giving them any giant advantage over other teams.   Everyone is filming sidelines and it is allowed.  Nobody is honest about injuries.   Remember hearing that Gurley was fine and then as soon as season was over about how bad his knee was?

I would say losing two 1's, a 3rd and a 4th and Brady for multiple games for their infractions is pretty adequate punishment for fairly minor offenses that were blown all out of proportion to any advantage conferred which is practically none.   Probably way too harsh IMO.  A permanent ban for Belichick is ridiculous jealousy.

It is super impressive that managed to maintain great teams while losing that draft capital.

I'm more interested in seeing if he can adjust and win consistently without Brady.

NE's owes most of their success to cheating and favortism from the referees. Brady and Belichick were never that good.

Like what? Aside from a lot of cocaine, Im not sure we got caught with anything.

Click the article - Troy Aikman admits that Jimmy Johnson did exactly what Bill Belicheck did during the Cowboys' run.

Hell, Jimmy admits it himself:

Sure, they weren't caught - neither was Belicheck, he was outed by Jets HC Eric Mangini, who knew about it as a member of Belicheck's staff.

Same with the 90s Cowboys, 80s 49ers and 70s Steelers. Should we do something about those dynasties?

Serious question.

So what? This doesn't excuse Belichick's persistent cheating.

He should not be allowed entry into the HoF. He's not even that great of a coach.

So, you're willing to ignore cheating in some capacity. It's the Patriots cheating that has you bothered. It does not matter that some All Time greats such as Walsh, Johnson, Noll had just as much cheating on their resume - this is all about Belicheck.

Good to know.
