Chiefs had to get their major pieces signed. Stay and play and win another SB . Think "team-friendly"
Kirill
If we regret any contract Veach has done, it will be this one. Thats a whole lot of guaranteed money and the yearly cap hit kills any cap flexibility we had over these next four years. But we had to do it. Jones earned every penny of this contract being a beast from day one, an absolute professional, a big voice in the locker room, and putting his body on the line for us playing through that calf injury durig our super bowl run last year. And now anything other than a championship next year is a failure. They asked Mark Ingram after the schedule release a few weeks ago what game he was most looking forward to and he said to be the king you gotta beat the king so Kansas City. And this was before we locked up Jones and Mahomes for 12 years. We're going to have a massive target on our back this season. It's gonna be great. chiefs82
I think to adjust that, Hitchens will either be cut or restructured soon and I’d imagine they extend Mathieu and or Kelce to offset the cap a little

Jones contract is worked where we can convert salary to bonus giving us more cap space. It's probably the best deal he's done from what I've seen. The worst imo is Clark. 2020: 19.3mil || 2021: 25.8mil || 2022: 26.3mil || 2024: 27.8mil Clark can't be cut until 2022. Even then, it's 13.6 in dead money with 12.7 in cap savings. At that point, he'll be 29 years old so hopefully he'll do a 1-2 year extension to help with the cap and not have his play fall off. He could restructure at some point, giving him more guaranteed money, but that would only help for 2-3 years and not the full contract cap wise.
RedGold
I actually really like this deal, very workable and that’s coming from someone who isn’t the biggest fan of Jones. Clark and Hitchens deals are far worse. Hitchens mainly just because we’re paying him to be a top MLB.

Fair point, from a numbers perspective Clark has the worst deal on the team. Hell I was worried a lot about it until the playoffs. Then seeing him dominate every opponent and talk **** to Derrick Henry then back it up eased those concerns. Yeah Clark's deal seems like a lot. Then you look at what San Fransisco paid Dee Ford and suddenly it looks pretty good
