This is smart honestly this team needs to just close the old pages let the name die with all the losing and bad culture we’ve had with this franchise and let’s get a name that honestly supports the military and this country because we are in the nations capital let’s just ride this offseason wave and really just nip all the negative stuff and maybe that is what gets Dan all the things he’s wanted. Dan has shown huge growth not just this offseason but he was patient with Bruce more then the fans wanted but we’ve always bashed Dan for him not sticking with things!!!

Honestly this would be a huge huge growth for Dan and honestly this year has made me proud of having him go all in on turning this ship around I believe Ron, Joe, Dan, and Doug and I’d assume Kyle are actually communicating and I believe a lot is turning around for this franchise. And it’s overdue but change isn’t easy especially under a microscope so I hope we are moving in the right direction.

It’s not even just about making a few happy it’s about taking anything outside of the product off the field away so we as fans and loyal fans it will only make the narrative around this team brighter so I support that fully. We actually have a good coach who’s clearly a much better person. We have some blue chip talent on this roster and their very young. Let’s focus on that with this change and I think a lot will be surprised moving forward just how different this team will even be reported.

This is a huge moment for this team I hope we can really do some good a cool respectable name some 🔥🔥🔥 unis like those ones we discussed before with some clear alterations I mean this is a business they can make this work there’s plenty of time.

Well- This puts the SuperBowl Champ CHIEFS on the hotseat :P No mascots with human connotations . Humans can't be mascots !

Its true, even animals can offend the "right" person. Better off just having each city name as the team name.

Is everyone in agreement that ANY Native American reference is off the table, as well as any logos in that area ?

Off the table? After all of this I wouldn’t want the headache of having anything to do with it. Name it something after the military or something.

I think so.  Really everything potentially not politically correct is off the table.  References Indians(washington warriors, etc).  I would also avoid political names like Washington senators.  Names like Pigskins are slurs too.  Not much left.  Maybe the Hogs.  Washington Flowers?  Washington Butterflies?

The sad thing is the name change crew will just end up complaining it wasn't fast enough.  No one will ever really be happy.  It is more about the mob mentality of winning the politically correct battle than the actual cause.

Man, Rivera is like a dog with a bone with this military thing. It’s every other word out of his mouth. The guy’s been here 45 minutes and won nary a game with this franchise, I sincerely hope that they don’t give him any say in the name change. The only thing that would be worse than them being forced to change the name is if they changed it to some grotesque pandering to the military as a way to score PR points and satisfy the fixation of a brand new coach who has done nothing but spearhead (sorry, didn’t mean to offend) a decidedly mediocre offseason.

Whatever they decide to change it to, I hope they put together a committee of Redskins lifers (actual real life people) to vet it and don’t just hand the whole thing over to some group of egghead marketing gurus. Apologies to all eggheads and marketing specialists and gurus out there. I’d feel much better about a potential new name if I knew they were going to run it by a group of actual people who have been invested with the Redskins — like Gibbs, Sonny, Theismann, Portis, BMitch, etc. — for something of a “sanity check” before the big rollout. I just dread the idea that they’re going to do some cutting edge new age BS like a made-up word or naming the team after a concept.

Fantastic Post ! Now I'm really worried it will all come down to marketing as you fear !

It’s going to be dumb. We’re all going to hate it and honestly after all the crap I’ve been through being a fan of this team I’m not sure I’m going to stick around. I hate the constant caving. It’s just wearing me out.

Despite Snyder saying never, he is not stupid.  I don't doubt that he hasn't already purchased rights to a variety of other names, logos, etc over the last decade.  I would expect that a short list has already been developed.

The timing couldn't be better for a name change. All of the casual fans are long gone by now. The brand has never been in a lower place. Two decades of dumpster fire  have left the brand and legacy in shambles. The fans that have stuck around the past 20 years are not going anywhere because of a name change.  Snyder desperately needs to get a stadium in DC in order to try and grow the brand back to respectability, and it was never going to happen with the name Redskins. I'm not saying he will be able to get the stadium done, but he at least has a chance with a new name.

I like Washington Warriors. He can keep all the logos and satisfy the cancel culture with the name change. Just my opinion!!!!
