How would you rank the QBs in each division?

Agreed. I’m not saying he’s got the worst situation in the league, but there is most definitely levels to the game.

Goff with the 31st ranked oline and 26th ground game, put as many wins on the board last season as the Giants have in a much worse division in the past two seasons.

On the Rams receivers, Robert Woods wasn’t even a sure thing coming out of Buffalo, but since he teamed up with Goff he’s put back-to-back career best seasons. Kupp is a third round receiver and was openly mocked during the draft process. Cooks worked with both Brady and Brees, yet had his best season with Goff. Well, until he took too many knocks on the head and started running in circles.

I’m not saying that Goff is a transcendent talent either, but he’s most definitely the most under appreciated, over-criticised QB in the NFL at the moment.

Yep.  Goff went from being overrated to now being underrated.  He's a decent QB.  Like all of them, just give the guy some help and he will be just fine.

I noticed another wave of Goff slander, particularly from Niners & Cardinals fans, ahead of the new season and Hard Knocks. I can understand 'casuals' being low on Goff as the Super Bowl appearance will continue to hang over his head, but the divisional teams should know a lot better.

Cardinals
Against the Cardinals, Goff is 6-1 with an aggregate of 201-100. In fact, take away his rookie season appearances against them, he's 6-0 with an aggregate score of 195-56. He's thrown for 1888 yards against them and arguably put up his most impressive numbers against them last year, where both games were towards the end of the season in December, with 5 touchdowns, zero picks and 743 passing yards. Murray, in comparison, had 2 touchdowns for 3 picks 488 yards.

Niners
Against the Niners, Goff has been on the side that has averaged more than 30 points a game. He's 3-3 against them overall, although (again) if you take away his rookie season then he would be 3-2 with an aggregate 166-135. He's got a 12-3 ratio overall against them, which is pretty good, plus even in his losses last season he still had a better TD/INT than Jimmy G in the games (2-1 Goff and 1-3 Jimmy) in games where neither QB really can shout home about.

Seahawks
It is absolutely undeniable that Russell Wilson is the best QB in the NFC West. However, it may shock you to know that in the 7 games Goff and Wilson have played each other that Goff has been slightly more accurate with the football, albeit marginal, with 445 more passing yards over the 7 games. Goff also has a winning record 4-3 overall, although Goff has come out on the winning side 4 times in the last 5. The game lost was notably down to a missed field goal for a walk-off win.

In the last three years of divisional games (17 overall) Goff is 29 for 11 with over 4500 yards, opposition QBs have almost a 1000 yards fewer in the same games and the point aggregate 539-318 (a 221 point swing). The record stands at 13-5 with Goff having a winning record against all of them in the past three years.

In summary, the hate on Goff would make a lot more sense if a) he had a losing record in the division or b) he had less passing yards and was handing it off every snap. He's put up lots of yards and lots of points. He had a horrible situation last season, whereby the OL was unhealthy and ever-shifting and the run game was among the worst in the league - in comparison the Cardinals, Niners and Seahawks all enjoyed a top 10 rushing O, the latter two top 5. He was still 3-3 in the divisional games, with 160 points, in that situation. The Rams won 3 of their last 4 divisional games (all in December) when the OL had the benefit of stability. In comparison, The Seahawks lost all three of their divisional games in December.

I guess we will wait and see...

It's really amazing how much recency bias is going on in this thread. Goff certainly had a down year, but as of now I'd still easily take him over Murray, who had a solid yet unremarkable rookie season. Problem is, I don't think the Rams had a very good offseason and as a team might get worse overall, while the Cardinals have made moves to get better. Goff's peak thus far in his career is certainly much better than anything we've seen from Murray. Could Murray end up being better than Goff? Certainly possible, but it's premature to say he's better at this point in time, IMO.

And again, a rookie who has never played a snap like Burrow being ranked ahead of Baker, who set the rookie TD record in 13.5 games, is hilarious. I think Burrow could end up being a stud, but he should be ranked last until proven otherwise. People look at Baker's stats and completely ignore the context as to why he had a disappointing season.
