Forge
My defense is made up of 49ers, pats and bills and is atrocious. That's probably the one thing that has really shocked me.
Blue
ARI at PIT: I was all ready to make a snarky comment about how the hallmark of a great defense is failing to stop the Brees Keeper, but then Arizona went and scored their first points on a Brees fumble on said play. Derrick Henry dominated this game. 4th quarter clock management with Brees runs to kill clock was mind-boggling and let Arizona back in the game, with Goff landing the deep bomb that had been missing from the offense the past few games. Henry getting to the 22 as time expired in regulation was thrilling, but the Steelers deserved to lose after blowing a 14 point lead. TB at DEN: Burrow coming back makes this a real game, because let's face it, there's no way Ryan Finley is leading this team to a win. Going into halftime with a lead on the league's lone unbeaten was impressive, but it should have been a lot more than 3 points. Gronk had a breakout game after being largely invisible for the first five games, and it led to a win. Burrow's decision-making has to be a concern, however, as he kept Denver in the game by leaving points on the field. SF at NY: LET THE RITUAL SACRIFICE OF ANDY ISABELLA COMMENCE. That out of the way, the opening drive was a real tone-setter with the completed deep ball to Hopkins and easy walk-in for Joe Mixon. Going for it on 4th down in the first quarter is the mark of a team desperate to stay in the playoff discussion, and actually getting it shows the favor of the Tecmo Gods. The New York defense finally showed up again, although everybody does against the 9ers. A couple near-blocks on punts made that aspect of the game even more exciting than usual. The only real question here was how much New York would win by. BUF at WAS: The Buffalo CB duo came up with timely interceptions (and a TD!) at the perfect time to stop this from becoming a blowout going into the half. Just when Washington looked like they were going to cruise to a nice little two-game winning streak, they repeatedly shot themselves in the foot with turnovers and busted coverage. Just an ugly way to lose on a day when Josh Allen was exceedingly bad at throwing downfield. CLE at NE: Watson came out the gates throwing darts to move the ball downfield minus his starting back. Right guard is still a nightmare costing this team whole drives, while the New England offense shows flashes of eptitude. Eddie Jackson's game-saving endzone pick is a Play of the Week if I ever saw one. Watson getting hurt is a bigger story than the actual game itself, and any time missed may cost the Browns a playoff spot. NO at GB: This looked like another Green Bay steamroll after a first quarter where the Pack ran up and down the field while New Orleans couldn't reach the 50. But big plays by Julio Jones and Alvin Kamara on offense, followed by a safety on the ensuing Packers drive, gave the Saints a shot. Kamara was a star controlling the clock and keeping the chains moving all game. A couple plays go differently and Green Bay dominates on the scoreboard. ATL at HOU: Another day, another game where the Texans get lit up like a Christmas tree when they don't pick the play or win at the line. Russell Wilson continues to be a machine incapable of turning the ball over, and with Watson hurt, he may be on the fast track to the MVP. Chubb finally got fed this game, but the Atlanta defense mostly refused to give up big plays on the ground even as Wentz was uncharacteristically effective as a passer. It's time to stop thinking of Houston as a contender given their defensive no-shows against Green Bay and Atlanta.
