Kreider staying in New York....signs a 7-year extension with Rangers. $6.5 AAV.

I thought for sure he was a goner.  I have always liked Kreider and this AAV is fair market value for someone of his ability level.  My only concern going forward is how we are going to manage the cap going forward.  Of course, Lundqvist's deal as well as Staal's will be up soon, which would free up significant space .

Really happy with the Oilers TDD. First time in a while where we filled a need and didn't over pay.

AA-McDavid-Kassian should be one of the fastest lines in the league. Both AA and Mike Green getting away from a historically bad Detroit team should really help them. I like the Ennis add too, a solid contributor for the top 9 who provides depth.

Damn it feels good to have a legit GM.

A few other thoughts:

- Confused as to what the Sabres TDD meant. I'm not sure what they tried to accomplish or if they did it.

- Thought the Hurricanes went in aggressive and potentially did well. I say potentially because they need a bit of luck for some of their players to bounce back. However, if they do, I think they could really rise.

- Sens got a bloody haul for JG Pageau, but I thought they undersold on their other players.

- Don't mind the AAV for JG Pageau or Krieder, but hate the term on both.

- Knights did well to get Lehner for a fairly cheap price.

- Penguins get stronger. Again. Seriously that franchise is so well run it's irritating.

- I thought Boston did well. Get out of Backes contract, get both Ritchie and Kase. The latter, if he can stay healthy, is a top 6 winger. They should rightfully be favorites going forward.

- TBL......I'm not sure. Coleman and Goodrow are good player, and help them now and in the future (they'll have to shed salary this offseason), but they paid a steep price for both. Pressure is on for them to atleast get to the Stanley Cup.

@Forge Have you heard anything about this two city, multiple venue stuff for resuming the season/expanded playoffs at all? I briefly read something on HF but wasn't sure where it came from. Any insight?

just little things here and there. I haven't paid a ton of attention to it, but I understand that there was an idea that there would just be a a couple of specific venues / cities where games would occur for the rest of the season. My understanding was that it was just something being kicked around though. Nothing definitive.

Let’s be clear: nothing is set in stone. The teams and players must still approve it, but discussions on the proposal could happen as soon as Thursday.

The top four seeds (based on points percentage) in the East would be Boston, Tampa Bay, Washington and Philadelphia. Top four in the West would be St. Louis, Colorado, Vegas and Dallas.

They would receive byes through the play-in, but participate in a three-game tournament to get some action. I confess I’m not certain of all the details on if or how it would affect playoff seeding.

The rest of the playoffs would be “bracketed.” That means, in both conferences 5 vs. 12 (winner plays four seed), 6 vs. 11 (winner plays three seed), 7 vs. 10 (winner plays two seed) and 8 vs. 9 (winner plays one seed).

Once again, it depends on approval from both the teams and players — which could come over the next few days.

Eastern Conference

1 Bruins vs. 8 Maple Leafs / 9 Blue Jackets

4 Flyers vs. 5 Penguins / 12 Canadiens

2 Lightning vs. 7 Islanders / 10 Panthers

3 Capitals vs. 6 Hurricanes / 11 Rangers

Western Conference

1 Blues vs. 8 Flames / 9 Jets

4 Stars vs. 5 Oilers / 12 Blackhawks

2 Avalanche vs. 7 Canucks / 10 Wild

3 Golden Knights vs. 6 Predators / 11 Coyotes

That's a brutal proposal imo. Some of these lower ranked teams are nowhere near the playoffs, and imagine if they upset a higher seed? However, if they are determined to have 24 teams in the playoffs, I reckon this is as good an idea as any. I bet the trio of teams will be quarantined together. So Stars, Oilers and Blackhawks will stay in the same hotel, play in the same rink etc etc. heck you could probably do it with a trio of teams. So that way you can play out 5 series without having those quarantined teams ever having to travel. So you'd need 4 NHL hubs to use.

it's also weird because from what I understand, it's not going to affect draft position unless teams get to the conference finals at minimum? Just such a weird scenario
