K Harmon tears ACL

ARTMONK HOF

Just awful news. We were really counting on this kid to take another step forward and take some of the pressure off of Haskins/McLaurin. Really hope he makes a speedy recovery, hopefully aided by a competent surgeon and rehab, and comes back ready to roll in 2021.

It’s also a sad reminder of one of the points I was trying to make throughout the offseason, which is that you can’t just look at projected starters at a position group (like WR, in this instance) and say “hey, we’ve got McLaurin and Harmon and Sims as the starters, there’s a lot of promise in those three, we don’t have as much need at WR as people say.” Injuries are always a part of this game, which means having real depth is crucial.

We’re now looking at a competition between a 4th round FCS rookie, a journeyman who may be headed to jail, and a 6’5 guy with 2 catches in 2 seasons  — for the WR2 position. That’s unacceptable for a team trying to develop a young QB, especially when they’ve also totally ignored the TE position.

I think them signing Antonio Brown is a real possibility now — and I honestly wouldn’t even be that mad at this point, it might help give Haskins an actual fighting chance.

I hate the idea. I hate the guy. But you just can’t send your young QB onto the field with one legitimate weapon in the passing game.

Yesterday, ESPN (Bill Barnwell) came out with their “offensive arsenal” rankings. The Redskins were #32 on that ranking, deemed to be on a tier with Jacksonville, significantly lower than the other 30 teams in the league. That was before their WR2 tore his ACL. The worst just got worse.

Only an utterly desperate team should even consider toying with the idea of signing AB. But it feels like it’s getting close to desperation o’clock here.

Thats a no on Antonio Brown from me, dawg.

I’d rather have Haskins fail because of a lack of weapons, not because Antonio Brown got in his head and wrecked his mental game.

Josh Gordon would make more sense in any way, shape or form.

Great Vegas bet - who would play more games, Brown or Gordon, before one messed up so bad he was kicked off/suspended?

Also, was this the big news?

Them signing Antonio Brown is a grave mistake. He is a cancer, he tore the Steelers lockeroom apart, he and Rivera would absolutely but heads. He would be taking selfie videos in the lockeroom and posting them on Instagram. The man quit on the Steelers when they needed to win one more game to be playoff eligible in 2018.

I used to love him before those antics, but he literary quit on his team. That can not be accepted and I don’t want him around this young team.

I would rather see an UDFA play then Antonio Brown on this team. That’s how much I’m against it.

I would accept Josh Gordon on this team for the right price bc as @Skins212689 has pointed out and others the weed game suspensions have been turned into fines. He’s not an issue in the lockeroom. But, there’s also WRs too and for the time being we still have Cody Latimer and while he’s not a top end starter he’s a serviceable player.  He started only 10 games and had 24 recs, 300 yds & 2 TDs. If he’s starting 16 that’s likely to put him at 40-50 recs, 500 yds and 3-5 TDs.
