Official New York Rangers Thread

Were able to come up with the win in our first game against the new Vegas franchise.  Some of the same problems came up, namely poor defense and having to play from behind yet again.  That is not something we should be making a habit of.  Steven Kampfer should not be playing at all.  I thought Lundqvist actually played pretty well today in spite of the numbers.  Came up with a number of key saves, we were just dominated through most of the first two periods.

What we don't have a problem doing is scoring.  Mika Zibanejad continues his torrid start to the year with another 3 points.  He's been our most productive scorer so far.  And Pavel Buchnevich should continue to see a lot of ice time.  He is an impact player on the offensive end.

We've rebounded well from the bad start.  4 straight wins and our record looks respectable again.  Shattenkirk has provided exactly what we paid him for with his offensive ability.  Zibanejad and Buchnevich both look excellent, especially when Kreider also is with them.  Can't remember the last time our PP was this lethal.

Too bad our home winning streak came to an end on Tuesday considering I was at the game.  Hank struggled which was unlike the way he had been playing for the past month.  The turnovers by Kampfer and Staal at the end were brutal.  Still proud of the fightback we showed.

Mika Zibanejad is out indefinitely with concussion symptoms.  Stinks since he was looking like a legit #1 C and was key in the success of our PP (Speaking of which, Shatty has been worth it just for this factor alone).  He has a great bond with Kreider and Buchnevich.  Good news is that Ryan McDonagh is expected back soon, probably for tomorrow's game against Carolina.

Went into a tough environment against a top team like Pittsburgh and came away with a solid road win.  Pavelec was in net as Hank had the flu.  He had a good game with 41 saves.  Pittsburgh definitely had more of the puck than we did over the last two periods (we really controlled the first), but I thought we had just as many dangerous opportunities when we did have the puck.  Still have two more road games against divisional opponents this week with Washington and New Jersey coming up.

Loving the depth we have up and down the lineup.  We can roll our top 3 lines relatively evenly and not lose too much with our 4th line.  Hopefully, Mika can come back soon.  He had been doing so well.

Finished off our 3 game run against divisional opponent with 2 wins out of 3.  After a hard loss in Washington where we were outplayed, we jumped in front of the Devils quickly tonight and did not let up.  Our forward depth continues to be impressive.  Zucc was the big star tonight with 2 goals, but Nash had 2 assists, Miller had an assist and had a lot of other great setup passes, and our 4th line guys Fast, Nieves, and Carey continue to put in quality minutes.  PP has been slumping since Zibanejad got injured, but our PK is solid and Hank looks good.

Saw a stat on the Washington game yesterday saying the Rangers have the best record in hockey since Oct. 31.  Says a lot about how far the team has come since the horrid start to the year.

Went to the game last night, great time!  Really missing Mika especially on the PP.  We can't keep rolling lefties.  In fact I just watched Edmonton blow a huge 5-3 advantage bc they only had one righty and he was playing low.  Couldn't one time the lefties at the top because one was out of position and they shaded the other one.

Great game tonight against Anaheim.  Entertaining, end to end hockey and we came out with a strong win to continue our great play.  Have the best home record in the league and we got Mika Zibanejad back playing again for the first time in about a month.

Great thing about lineup depth is that any line can step up on any given night.  Tonight, David Desharnais and Paul Carey ended up making a big difference with Desharnais with two nice assists for 2 Carey goals.  Zucc had an assist and Grabner got his 17th goal of the year.  What a great bargain Grabner has been in these two years.

And Henrik has been playing like the King we have seen for years here.  He is rebounding big from last year's down season.

I'll gladly take the point from that game.  Easily one of the worst games we have played all year.  Gave up a ton of shots (48 to be exact) and were very sloppy when we had the puck.  We could not sustain much offensive possession other than 3-on-3 in OT.  Henrik Lundqvist is the only reason we got to the shootout in the first place.  He was magnificent, turning away big shot after big shot and gave our team a chance to win.

Yeah, as a devils fan, I was disappointed that you guys got even a point, but then I was super thankful that we got two because the Rangers destroyed us in the overtime lol. There were long stretches of time, particularly in that first period, where we were running circles around you guys, yet somehow you were up at the first intermission lol. It was a really fun game. I'm glad to see that both teams are at a place where this rivalry can actually be worthwhile again.

Was at the game last night.  A lot of fun and a nice way to snap our losing streak.  A great overall defensive game.  We're currently in a wild card position.  Grabner is going to fetch a pretty penny in FA in the offseason.  He is great at his role as a 3rd liner and PK specialist.  Henrik does mask a lot of issues with our team, though I think it is at least as much on AV's tactics as it is on our roster (which is good, but not great).
