So you traded 2 1's and a 3 to continue to come up short? Lol okay kid.

Cardinals traded a 2 for an EDGE hoping to get better, they didn't even though Jones has been great but trading a 2 is completely different than trading 2 1's and a 3.

So to clarify, you’re saying if a team makes a big trade and don’t win a SB as a result, it’s a bad trade?

And if the Jets draft two studs with those picks, but never win a SB, was it a bad trade for them too?

If the only measure of success is a SB win - which to be honest, it is - then yes.

NYJ - Draft two studs that become HOFers, spend their whole careers in NY, don’t win a chip - bad trade for NY.

NYJ - Draft two busts that can’t become starters, barely even play on special teams, but win a SB - good trade for NY.

Seattle - Fields a #1 defense for years, Adams makes the HOF and goes down as GOAT DB, but never hoists the Lombardi - bad trade for Seattle.

Seattle - Adams completely crumbles, gives up NFL record amount of TDs, gets cut ASAP, but Seattle wins a SB - good trade for Seattle.

If none of that makes any sense, then there you go. I’d expect NYJ fans to know how difficult it is to win a SB, and no single move will ever really do that for any team. To put the team building, coaching, and flat out luck, all on one single roster move is dumb.

The trade needs to result in a SB win. Your two examples of winning an SB are despite the trade, so the trade would still be a bad trade.

And I think fans of any team that have had SB droughts for as long as the Jets have had will tell you, it's nice to have all-stars on the team, but an SB win is much more meaningful.

It is more meaningful. But every move isn’t “win a SB or bust”, that’s exactly why bad teams stay bad. Do you think Belichick sees every move as a “this is putting us over the top to win the SB”? No, it’s every action is just to make the team better.

There’s a difference between the SB being the end-goal for a team in any given season - which it is - and the SB being the only passable outcome for one roster move. Doesn’t make sense. A roster move can be a good roster move, and not result in a SB. A roster move can be a bad roster move, and still result in a SB.

By your logic the only way a trade ever works out is if the player/picks pan out to the top degree and the team, no matter how bad it is, wins a championship. Was Revis a bad draft pick because he didn’t win one in NY? Was Rivers a bad move for SD because he hasn’t gotten there yet? Was LT, or Joe Thomas, or Gonzo, or Fitz, or AP, a bad pick because they were draft capital used on a player that ultimately never brought a championship? You can make good, smart moves that don’t make you a SB champion.
