Eh, I think Diggs and Awuzie on the outside and Brown in the slot is our best look. I don't get the sense that the new staff likes Lewis any more than the last one did. Although, it's hard to say with how under wraps things have been. No indication that either Diggs or Awuzie have been moved out to RCB to replace Jones, it could well be that they're competing with each other at LCB

I was mostly joking, and I agree with you. Just commenting on how nice it is that Diggs looks ready to go, and we have enough talent at CB to consider moving a good one to safety.

I usually stay out of the comments section on Twitter, but I got sucked into a few threads of Cowboys beat writers today. Wow. It's like a Bowphet, A.J. Hawk, NFL General Forum mashup of constant awfulness.

Holy hell, I totally forgot about Bowphet!

Looking at the roster, there doesn't seem to be a lot of intrigue for cut downs. By my count, there are maybe 3-4 spots to be determined.

Roster Locks:

QB (2)
-Dak
-Dalton

RB (2)
-Zeke
-Pollard

WR (5)
-Amari
-Gallup
-Lamb
-Wilson
-Noah Brown

TE (3)
-Jarwin
-Schultz
-Bell

OL (8)
-Tyron
-C Williams
-Looney
-Martin
-La'El
-Biadasz
-McGovern
-Erving

DE (5)
-Tank
-Griffin
-Crawford
-Aldon
-Anae

DT (4)
-Poe
-Gallimore
-Hill
-Woods

LB (5)
-LVE
-Jaylon
-Lee
-Thomas
-Bernard

CB (5)
-Chidobe
-Diggs
-Brown
-Worley
-Goodwin

S (4)
-X Woods
-Wilson
-Thompson
-Robinson

Specialists (3)
-LP
-Legatron
-Chris Jones

So that's 46 locks. B Knight, Redmond, and Jourdan Lewis, seem pretty close to locks as well. And then you almost certainly will have either Haha Clinton-Dix (or a different vet safety like Earl Thomas). So that leaves 3 spots up for grabs.

If I had to guess: 1) DiNucci, 2) a 6th WR (JVJ?), and 3) Luke Gifford. But at least one of those last 2 spots will be replaced by picking up players from other teams cuts. Also think trading a guy like Redmond or Knight is not out of the question.

The most surprising player missing the cut, coming into training camp at least, will be Dorance Armstrong. Really thought he had a shot to be a productive player in this league, but he just can't seem to turn the corner.

I think those last 3 spots would go to Dinicci, one of the rookie RBs or FB and Randy Gregory😉

Maybe. I just don’t see the point of a 3rd RB for us unless they are going to really be a stud special-teamer.

Agreed. Will be odd carrying only two...but I feel like we did it last year IIRC.

We did, although Jamize Olawale played in all 16 games as a FB.

But the new roster rules change everything on this. We can have 48 active players on gameday instead of 46, and 2 of those players can be from the practice squad. So having your 3rd RB be a player on the practice squad makes a ton of sense, especially for a team that has no intention of actually utilizing 3 RBs in the offense. If Zeke or Pollard are limping into a week, then you just activate Rico Dowdle from the practice squad for the game.

That's a great point.
