AlexGreen#20
Looking at our PFR coverage metrics in the secondary . . . How do we have such a bad defense with such a good secondary??? Adrian Amos: 615 snaps/26 targets/18 completions/227 yards/2 TDs/1 INT Darnell Savage: 512 snaps/16 targets/ 9 completions/167 yards/1 TD/0 INTs Raven Greene: 242 snaps/28 targets/20 completions/202 yards/1 TD/1 INT Will Redmond: 202 snaps/13 targets/8 completions/144 yards/1 TD/0 INTs +++ Jaire Alexander: 511 snaps/45 targets/26 completions/247 yards/1 TD/1 INT Kevin King: 279 snaps/17 targets/11 completions/144 yards/1 TD/1 INT Chandon Sullivan: 419 snaps/36 targets/23 completions/267 yards/1 TD/1 INT Josh Jackson: 328 snaps/31 targets/23 completions/285 yards/1 TD/0 INTs +++ Christian Kirksey: 276 snaps/18 targets/14 completions/156 yards/2 TDs/1 INT Krys Barnes: 240 snaps/21 targets/18 completions/163 yards/2 TDs/0 INTs Ty Summers: 173 snaps/23 targets/21 completions/171 yards/2 TDs/0 INTs Preston Smith: 509 snaps/14 targets/10 completions/94 yards/1 TD/0 INTs Kamal Martin: 106 snaps/4 targets/3 completions/29 yards/0 TDs/0 INTs +++ Our starting 5 in the secondary is really good but our backups (who we play a ton of due to injury/scheme) and our linebackers are just awful. King and Alexander have combined for 790 snaps/62 targets/37 completions/391 yards Our top 3 ILBs have combined for: 689 snaps/62 targets/53 completions/490 yards For reference, Blake Martinez, who many hated in coverage last year had a line of: 1024 snaps/74 targets/62 completions/570 yards. I have NEVER seen a team give up more passing yards via ILB than boundary CBs. That's basically a statistical impossibility. They're not even just bad on volume. The 80+% completion percentage at 8+ yards/target is bad as well as the insanely bad 9 snaps/target. MacReady
Hear me out... Somebody without COVID hugs and licks Pettine, fakes a positive test forcing Pettine to not be DC for the playoffs. Then someone else. All the way to the Super Bowl. Should we maybe spend some serious draft capital on an inside linebacker, or do you think it's a scheme thing? mtsportsfan1
Maybe what would help is if we would stop drafting de's to play outside side lb . Actually draft a olb that actually has played the position. There is no way that Preston or Gary should ever be in coverage. . Can we just draft a guy who is really good at one position instead of drafting a guy who is average at multiple positions ? That being said I think Pettine has to go , we play the softest defense I can ever remember as a longtime packer fan .
