kingseanjohn
Quote While we have discouraged fans from wearing headdresses for several years, effective immediately, fans will be prohibited from wearing headdresses into the stadium. Face painting is still allowed for all fans, but any face paint that is styled in a way that references or appropriates American Indian cultures and traditions will be prohibited. Fans will be asked to remove any American Indian-themed face paint prior to passing security screening outside the stadium. We are engaged in a thorough review process of the Arrowhead Chop and plan to have additional discussions in the future. We are exploring all options for a modified engagement moment from the Drum Deck that maintains a unifying effect between our fans and our players but better represents the spiritual significance of the drum in American Indian cultures. This includes discussions around how to shift the focus of the drum to something that symbolizes the heartbeat of the stadium. As allowed by NFL guidelines and the City of Kansas City Health Department for the coronavirus-impacted 2020 season, we will continue with many of the traditions that we have introduced over the past six years, including the Blessing of the Four Directions, the Blessing of the Drum, as well as inviting members of tribes with a historic connection to our region to participate in our American Indian Heritage Month Game. Finally, we are exploring the creation of a more formalized education program with input from both our local and national partners. Full statement HERE I understand why some of these changes are being made. But I also feel like some of them are unnecessary. Getting rid of the Arrowhead Chop is just another thing that will remove the home field advantage. Ever since they changed the TD song, it hasn't been the same. If you've been to Arrowhead when it was a thing vs recently, you can feel the energy difference. The whole crowd chanting in unison vs now. I'm not looking to have any political talk here, so please avoid it to make @Jakuvious job easier. But as far as fan atmosphere, I think they're slowly chipping away at it and it's not going to be the loud college atmosphere that we're known for. Maybe this is just a bad take knee jerk reaction, I don't know.
RedGold
If it’s a bad knee jerk reaction, I’m with you. Honestly I got rid of my season tickets, it did lose a ton when the song left. It may sound dumb, but it was part of the experience and got everyone involved. Game day experience takes another massive blow if they get rid of the chop. Just do it on commercial ha, not like anyone complaining is actually attending the games(same with the song)

Jakuvious
I dont really care about the bans on headdresses and warpaint. They've always looked more tacky than anything to me, anyway. It would be a bummer if they got rid of the chop, to be sure. But honestly its still all not a huge deal to me. The chop is a pretty small portion of the experience. It's cool, but the loss wouldn't be heartbreaking or anything. Just need the fans and the football in the end, for me. And the obligatory don't talk about politics. Like @dtait93, c'mon man, you know that post isnt going to add anything positive. Don't be the one to start the derail.. I'm fine with a chat about how people feel about the change. If you feel its about time, or you'll miss the old ways, cool. But I dont want a tirade on how anyone feels about censorship or SJWs or whatever.
