turtle28
Hope he recovers and gets through this. Trying times and a harder time than most to be going through this given COVID-19. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29706773/washington-head-coach-ron-rivera-says-cancer%3fplatform=amp ”Rivera shared the news with his team Thursday night, but says the cancer is in the early stages and is considered "very treatable and curable." "I was stunned," Rivera told Schefter. "But I was angry because I feel like I'm in best health I've been in." Rivera, 58, said he felt a lump in his neck in early July and that he saw a doctor a few weeks later when it didn't go away. He has consulted with a number of doctors and specialists and is establishing a treatment plan with the team and an outside specialist. Rivera said the plan for now is to continue coaching. Doctors encouraged me to do it, too," he told Schefter. "They said, 'If you feel strongly, do it. Don't slow down, do your physical activities.' But everyone keeps telling me by Week 3 or 4, you'll start feeling it." Rivera said a "Plan B" is in place for the team if he can't coach, but declined to get into specifics. "I'm going through the proper treatment," he said. "This will be fine." Edited August 21, 2020 by turtle28
Skins212689
Damn, wish Rivera a full recovery. From what's been reported about how the players have received their new HC, guys will definitely give their all in practice and games under his Leadership. Things surely don't happen easy for this Franchise. I'm excited to see the new Attitude on the field with the changes that have occured this off-season. Expect a lot more hard fought games this season. Witch is something I enjoy. Really think this pumps guys up more than puts them down.

naptownskinsfan
Damn. This sucks. I am glad that Rivera and the doctors believe that they caught it in time. I am absolutely concerned for him going through cancer treatments during Covid as well- the radiation trashing his immune system now is just as risky as the cancer. A former co-worker of mine just had a tumor removed from the top of her spine and is going through radiation treatment right now and she is unable to work or leave her house except for those treatments. Her boyfriend is living with her and doing most of the things for her. They absolutely need a plan B for the coaching staff, as well as the front office. Rivera's health and his life can't be replaced. All of this football stuff can be replaced.

RSkinGM
Del Rio has H C experience.. Wonder if he's Plan B .. Makes we remember Lombardi only getting one season here . I'm sure this isn't as bad as his situation. Praying for a full quick recovery . Hail to the coach of the Washington Football Team .
