I know people who didn't like math at all, took calc, and not only did better in it than other course, but liked it. There are also "calc for [profession]" type supplemental materials online, and if you find one for business students you should be able to find some practice problems where you would be solving something interesting to you. To piggy back on this, I’d certainly recommend reading the professor reviews if you have options on who to take the class with. Calc, more than any other class I took, was heavily dependent on how well the teacher explained concepts. There was **** that I didn’t understand for a year that I picked up in about one lecture with a different teacher.

Toughest things I dealt with in calc were rate word problems and just memorizing the the derivative and integrals for the trig functions. Sometimes you can't pick your instructor. The best plan is to have a one on one meeting with them. Explain your apprehension, and they should be willing to work with you. The more practice problems you see, the more confidence you will have on test day.

twslhs20
Been searching for a job since April. The market is bad, and I don't have any direct management experience, or GLP/GMP experience. I'm trying to transition my career from agricultural chemical manufacturing to pharmaceutical or cannabis industries. I'm considering getting my MBA to go with my Chemical Business concentration. Any thoughts from anyone in those sectors or compliance experience have any thoughts if that would be a good idea or just get my masters in chemistry or some engineering field. Had to drop the math course. I did the first review chapter and I remembered 33% of the things, another 33% I remembered the terminology and 33% I don't remember at all. I am going to talk to the testing office about re-taking the placement test. I think I need another non-credit level, I want to get the basics down before moving on. If they don't want to do that, I'll spend the money for a math tutor to get me there. I want to do this right. So I signed up for a health general requirement class instead, which starts in October. Intro to Business is going fine, I could probably teach half of that.

When I went back to school I got placed into the pre-algebra/basic algebra course. After that semester, I studied on my own over the summer with Khan Academy and was able to test out of the next couple math classes. It works if you put in the effort. Plus, you can save yourself some money by testing out of lower level courses.
naptownskinsfan
Wrapping up my first semester. I got 98/100 on my first paper (apparently my double-spacing didn't transfer on my reference page) and in my 16 week course, I am waiting for my final to determine if it's an A or B. I've got two 8 week courses and I will wrap up with an A even if I don't submit anything the rest of the way. Trying to go for the math course again next semester. I will try the Khan Academy after the semester officially ends and see if I can prepare myself.

BayRaider
I’m 18 credits away from a Computer Science degree from a State university. Basically did 24 credits a semester while my casino job was closed for a year and a half. The reason I went back to school is because I wanted a backup plan in case another pandemic happened, something that allows remote work. The EDD was probably good for some people, but was less for me. I never want to go through that again, helpless and stranded. I already make a little over 100,000 in my casino job, so I don’t think I’ll switch over to Software Engineering anytime soon. I just really want to be secure for whatever curveball is thrown at me and have two career avenues.
BayRaider
I will say Computer Architecture is kicking my rear end though. But if I can get through Physics, Calculus, Java, and Discrete Math, then I can get through this damn class.
