ravishingone
Well, the real competition no one outside the organization is witnessing. Kicking in the stadium has to be a priority. There should be no loyalty to Gay. A day 3 pick is a lottery ticket anyway, there is very minimal investment. May the best man win. If Fry is even marginally better, he has to get the nod. Gay has a terrific leg and a great back story, but so did Kyle Brindza. 🤨
indifference
Pretty sad we’ve yet to find a reliable kicker yet. What is our ST coach doing? This has to be his lane and give input. Me thinks Gay is not the answer. 0/4 week 17 still puts a sour taste in Arians mouth I bet. He shares second most blame after Winston for that collapse. Fry probably isnt the answer either. Our best bet honestly is to find a kicker who is accurate. I think we have a better chance converting a 4th down with Brady on a 4th and 6 then kicking it from 50+ anyway. Lil' Shorty
Matt Gay will get the nod this year. However, I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if we draft or sign a new kicker next year for better competition and that guy wins it outright. 2020 is do or die for Matt Gay in Tampa. ravishingone
With the expanded practice squad, fairly confident whoever loses the battle will be on the practice squad

With expanded PS, I do think some teams will carry a kicker on there. I think the Bucs have minimal risk cutting Gay and trying to get him on the PS. Of course, Succop needs to do his job. I think it's safe to say Licht is not allowed to draft a kicker before round 7. Both of his experiments have failed miserably.
