tom cody
It was either this or get fired IMO. Wonder who the team gets to replace him as manager.

He is, for all intents and purposes, fired. His "front office role" is probably somewhere between a no-show job and sweeping floors. The Mets are just doing it this way so that they don't owe him the whole balance on his contract up front, and Collins isn't going to get any opportunities elsewhere so it's not like he's leaving anything on the table either. He was a minor league coordinator before getting hired in manager, which I think in practice meant he was a minor league coach but covered all of the system's affiliates rather than staying with a specific team. He'd probably do something similar but in more of a special advisor, work once a week type of situation.

NewAge
Ventura and Ausmus are not candidates, per Heyman. Sounds like the six candidates are Alex Cora, Kevin Long, Sandy Alomar Jr., Joe McEwing, Bob Geren, and Manny Acta. Cora is likely the favorite but he's also the favorite in Boston. If he takes the Boston job instead, then Kevin Long is probably the favorite here.
NewAge
The Mets have interviewed Alex Cora, Mickey Callaway, Kevin Long, Manny Acta, and Joe McEwing. Long is the favorite.
