49ers 3 stars of the game

I always admired that of hockey games when they announce the three stars. For those who isn't familiar you basically choose the 3 most impactful players from the game immediately after the game. Its a fun thing to look back on and see which 3 players had the most impact on that game. I think it could be a cool thing to track guys throughout this season, where we don't have to dig through miles of thread history to remember what we saw in a particular matchup. I know I'm starting this a little late so if you start from this week against or next whatever it still would be cool or you catch up from a few back either way.

10/1 @Arizona

***Deforest Buckner, **Solomon Thomas, *Trent Taylor

I like the idea of a thread like this, it gives us a place to reflect post game on certain players and an interesting discussion to contribute to. Maybe we could add a poll where we all vote on the player of the game.

Anyways, my top three have to be ***Gould **Taylor *Buckner.

Robbie gets my third spot because he was the only player to put points on the board for us today. He was consistently accurate even with a couple kicks bordering 50 yards. If he could keep up the accuracy I don't see why he wouldn't play till he retires out here in The Bay

Trent gets my second spot because he seemed to be "the guy" on offense. He had 5 catches for 47 yards which isn't huge but he made some plays in some key moments. Unfortunately, he also had a penalty that essentially cost us the game. The only reason he is this high up is that the rest of the offense struggled mightily and frankly nobody else really showed up.

Buckner nabs the top spot by a wide margin. He seemed nigh on unblockable with what should have been two sacks with one being wiped out by an inconceivable choice to take a penalty on a play that would have resulted in a loss of yards and downs.  Outside of his two sacks, he was consistently creating pressure up the middle of the line. He's going to be a player we can build this whole defense around and I can't wait to see more of him in the future. He's just one of those players that makes me want to watch these Niner games even knowing how bad we are.

Judging by you calling Buckner having the top spot, I think you have them reversed. In any case, I think your players are ones I would choose as well.

I can go with the first 3.  Taylor was only OK though.  Happened to contribute because no one else was contributing much. So he looked good, but really did nothing special.  Ray-Ray  probably was "most improved" over his prior games. I do think Hyde had another nice game.  If that guy stays healthy, and Shanny calls enough  running plays (which I'm beginning to worry about) he could easily top 1000 this year.

Sad, but I think two of the guys that had the best game were Gould and Pinion.  When your kickers are your standout players that's not a good thing.

I missed the PI call on Taylor so that might influence my perception of his game. The Specialist were solid across the board but nothing was that eye popping for me, they did their job as I would expect them to. Its hard for me to imagine a kicker or punter getting player of the game recognition, but this would be the type of game had we won to do it.

Ray Ray had a good game like you guys mentioned. Dumervil too when he finally got in the 2nd half.

Hey guys! New here. According to Pro Football Focus, Joe Staley and Trent Brown were the highest-ranked offensive tackles (combination run and pass) in the NFL this past weekend (with the Monday Night Game pending). I'd go with Buckner, Staley, and Brown.

Thats a good call too, our bookends have been $ this season.

Welcome to the forum!

10/8 @Indianapolis

* Elvis Dumervil - Old man put on several moves from a power rush to a speed rush of the edge and even hand swipes evading the Olinemans reach. He had a great game with 1.5 sacks but there wasnt enough pressure down the stretch to close it out.

** Garcon/Goodwin - Both had 11 targets and finished with 94 and 116 yds on some big chunk plays. Goodwin made some really clutch catches down the stretch and Garcon continues to replicate solid game after solid game.

*** George Kittle - 9 targets completing 7 for 83yds and a TD with 20 seconds left on 4th down is a hell of a game for the rookie. Made big first downs catches on 3rd down. Really impressive game.

HM: Tartt, Breida, Defo, Gould, and even Hoyer i guess

*Dumervil- Dudes still got it. Pretty much our only edge presence outside the inconsistent Aaron Lynch. Did Eli Harold even play today? Could have fooled me.

** Gore- Gore was one of the best 49ers on offense today... and he didn't even play that well. Congrats on the 7th all-time leading rusher!! well deserved.

***Kittle- Was clutch down the stretch and fairly consistent. A young bright spot on our offense.

48 1/2ers pretty much summed it up better than me.
