Its overly redundant though.  Horstead brings a WR skill set that most of these other guys don’t have.

He’s still on PS though.  I just don’t have faith in Bears org. To develop young talent going through a position change.

I think that is the point. There is only 1 garbage blocker in that entire group.

Maybe they do not want one dimensional TEs.

Horstead is on PS so I'm good.  I'm not mad and I don't want to over state my position on this.

My position is why do you need 5 of same guy?  Only (generally) two can play at any one time and its often just one.   Football is a specialist game.

I'd rather have a guy that is good at 1 thing than two that are below average or even average at two things.

I'll scheme around his weaknesses.   Plus, you know when you have a guy and change his position it is a project.  Projects require work and coaching.  They don't just happen.

He is still a bottom of roster type player in all likelihood.     I just don't want guys like him ignored and not coached up.   If you are going to do that what is point in first place?  You are just wasting everyones time.   I think Horstead can be a solid receiving tight end given development.  He isn't likely to be difference maker on a championship team.

Someone, I think it was Greg Gabriel, said that the Bears will be running a lot more 12 personnel this year, meaning 2 TE's on the field a lot.  I think that explains why they would want more guys who are better at blocking there.

I would expect our running game to be a bit better than it was last year.
