Well, and then there is the chance to get a ring with the Super Bowl Champs - which definitely helps getting aging FA on board on budget deals.

Then I'd say his "rehab" experience is trending nicely.....LOL

LG has been a sore spot for years. We had some adequate players, but the last really good one was Waters. That seems to now be a strength. Also, the level of nasty went up a notch for the whole OL. Given that we have a new emphasis on the running game, that's important.

Stat line of the game:

2nd Quart 2:26
P.Mahomes pass short right to S.Watkins for 2 yards TOUCHDOWN.
16 PLAYS,  91 YDS,  9:04 POS

16 plays and 9 minutes. Are you kidding? Plus the score.

Chargers and Raiders both won, but I don't think either did so in a convincing way, against lesser teams. Chargers offense looks anemic without Rivers, Raiders defense still looks lost.

These teams aren't even halfway where they need to be to compete with us. It's crazy how much better we are than them. This is our reward for all of those other years I guess

Chargers are Meh.

Definitely need to start early against Oak.  That offense is pretty good if they get Jacobs rolling.   Should be a win, but Jacobs is a beast and that Play Action is pretty deadly when it’s rolling.

Ward had surgery to reset the bone in his hand. He can play in a club, but that's not a given. Keyes was the only player on the 53 not active for game #1, so i doubt they lean much on him. However, Sneed played very well and Fenton is available for the other side. With Matieu to cover the slot and Thornhill mostly up to speed, the coverage will not be horrible. The pressure up front certainly helps.

Speaking of up front, Saunders dislocated an elbow. it's not official, but color that one doubtful. Pennel is still out, so it's Jones and Nnadi, plus...? Wharton played several down in week #1, Hoyett has a year under his belt and there are the DE who can move inside. With Alex Okafor also dinged, this is a window for Taco to get some PT, both at DE and at DT.

I imagine Keyes will be given some special teams snaps so that Hamilton and Fenton can focus more on defense. Is it just me or did the Texans offensive spark coincide with the Ward injury? Seemed every big pass play was given up by Hamilton or Fenton.

spags is gonna have to get creative with his defensive rotations. Chargers are tougher on defense than on offense but they’ve still got talent on the offensive side. Will be interesting to see what he can come up with

The Texans' OL was better than the Chargers will be and add an inexperienced QB. A lot will be said by the rushing yardage.

On defense, SD is indeed much better. I would say top 3-4 in the AFC. However, for some reason, their ST suck.

FWIW FBO puts us in the middle of the NFL, #18, with Houston bottom 10. LAC are #10, with a top 5 defense.

Tyrod is actually pretty experienced didn’t he start for a season or two up in Buffalo?

pretty sure their whole plan is to focus on running the ball with some passes/runs from Tyrod thrown in.

That DL is ferocious that’s gonna be a big test for the boys up front. Ours would be ranked better if we could hold up for a whole game and not just 3 quarters

Good point. I was actually referring to Hebert, the QB they just drafted, but Tyrod Taylor started for three years in Buffalo.

TT is a poor man's Alex Smith. He doesn't throw interceptions, he has decent movement skills even at 31, but he takes way too many sacks. It says something that he was only in Buffalo three years and went on to be a back up Baker Mayfield in Cleveland. It has been a solid career for a 6th round pick, but solid is all it has been to date.
