That's not saying a whole lot for a team that finished with the #2 draft choice this year.

Well, in 2017 he was the slot corner on the Jags D that played so well they almost helped the Blake Bortles led Jags offense to the AFC Championship Game & they had a lead and almost went to the Super Bowl but they blew a lead vs the Patriots in Foxboro. Having him as a possibility should one of our younger corners get hurt seems like a good luxury to have. And a year after signing a contract with $18 million guaranteed, he was cut after Week 1 by the Texans. He's not that good. He will be 29 in a month. Give the practice squad reps to someone younger. turtle28
Washington Football Team doesn’t make any waiver claims after roster cuts https://allfans.co/washington-football-team-doesnt-make-any-waiver-claims-after-roster-cuts/ via @All Fans https://riggosrag.com/2020/09/06/washington-football-team-no-waiver-claims/This move may be viewed by some as an odd one. There were several players available on waivers that some thought would upgrade the team. Notably, Sidney Jones, Robert Foster, and Hakeem Butler were available, but Washington passed on them. That said, this move also does make sense to an extent. There was no preseason, so Washington didn’t get a great look at the talent throughout the league, and they were likely more focused on evaluating their own roster anyway. So, while they could’ve taken a chance on some of the players to hit waivers, they may not have felt comfortable trusting any of them over what they already had. Also, it’s worth noting that there were still several players available that hit waivers and now can sign as free agents. This includes Jones, Foster, and Butler. This will give Washington a chance to work out those players if they’re interested in them and get a better look at them before deciding to cut a player in favor of one of them. That being said, I think Rivera is fine with coaching up these young guys for the time being, if they’re awful in certain spots, he may sign a guy or two sometime in September or Oct. Going to be an interesting week if someone takes a huge hit with Covid and players being out.

I don't think Butler is necessary, but I'd be open to the debate.
