I've thought he's actually played good in coverage. Course there's room to grow in what is essentially his second yearΒ

For the most part he's executing his assignments, but he's nowhere near the mental processing of guys like Hayward. That will come with time in the scheme hopefully.

Yeah but like I mentioned this is essentially his second year after missing his entire rookie year.

Casey Hayward on the other hand is an eight your vet who played five years in thisΒ system

He still needs to be more decisive in coverage, but he's a tone setter for sure.

This. He let the TE slip behind him on that 4th and 20. If he sails back, he's in good position. And he got away with a PI when Moehrig was out on that deep pass to Fuller that could have closed the game.

That PI was disastrous. It’s why I won’t complain about refs last game despite the holding calls.

-Agreed but to be fair the entire defense looked horrible in prevent coverage

-He shouldn't have been in a situation where he is playing single high safety. That's said, the fact that they put him in there at free safety in that situation actually shows how high the defensiveΒ staff thinks of his abilityΒ (what this defense of staff thinks actually carries weight considering their history)

To be fair, we haven't played the greatest passing teams yet so you do have to take that into account and a big test will come on Monday against Los Angeles (seems strange calling them that, I still want to write San Diego).

Props to Henry Ruggs 297 yards 1 TD through 4 games on 14 receptions. 6 20 plus yard catches. 2 40 plus yard catches. 2nd in the NFL in yards per reception. Very nice improvement for Ruggs through 4 games.Β

Wish the receptions were at a higher volume but hes making a impact and just not out there being a smoke screen.

He'd have a couple more TD's if Carr's deep ball was better.

Yannick Ngakoue is already paying major dividends for the team.

The pass rusher hasΒ 18 pressuresΒ on the year which is tied for ninth among edge defenders and his 80.5 pass-rush grade ranks tied for 13th - minimum 32 rushes. For comparison’s sake,Β Raiders’ edges collectively had 22 pressuresthrough four weeks last season and Arden Key led the way with a 71.8 grade, while no one else broke 60.

Casey Hayward currently has the highest PFF coverage grade (86.4) among cornerbacks, has allowed a 38.5 percent completion percentage - ranks fifth - and just 39 receiving yards - ranks ninth.

100% Carr throws his deep ball so high some time. Sometimes he needs to get there on a rope.Β

The last deep shot against the chargers, first, Carr needed to set his feet once he rolled out. Had time once he escaped the pocket, but panicked.Β
I will say though, it looked like Carr thought Ruggs was going to take a steeper angel to the endzone.Β

Ruggs couldve easily had 3 TDs 200 yards that game alone.Β
Hopefully him and Carrs chemistry only grows.Β
