Guessing Waller will be traded. Restructure contracts to fit Jacobs and fill out the roster.

The Oline doesn't need overpriced highlight FA signings. A couple of decent veteran guys while younger guys develop should be sufficient. RT/G

With regard the OLine I think we’re set with Miller and Parham looks like he could be a good quality OG or OC. We have a couple guys like Munford, James who could be average to solid.

I think we need one more good FA, maybe not a big ticket guy like Trent Brown but a guy of a similar stamp to say, Veldheer when we had him or Gabe Jackson. Good solid player to add to Miller and Parham, draft another guy in the first 3 rounds and we can fill in the blank with whatever’s left. We’d not be elite but we ought to be top half of the league then.

I think Miller is slipping wouldn’t be surprised if he’s traded away for picks

Scraping the bottom of the barrel has definitely been a recipe for success over the last two seasons. The Chiefs and Dolphins were able to rebuild their offensive lines quickly because they bit the bullet and went out and got their guys in free agency. Which is one of the reasons their offenses are elite with guys like Jeff Wilson and Isaiah Pacheco as their primary RBs and we're below average despite Jacobs being on pace for the second most productive season in Raiders history.

I would normally agree. But the offense runs through Jacobs. And after listening to JMDs comments, you can tell he's a big fan of his.

The middle of the pack offense that has led us to 3 wins over two other bottom feeders? Building around skill position players and being terrible in the trenches doesn't work.

I didn't say that. I said add a couple decent vet options. Who said scrape the bottom of the barrel?

How are we paying all of our skill position guys top 5-10 money and going to address other holes?

For 2023 as of right now:
Carr - 9th highest
Waller - 8th highest
Adams - 20th highest, Hunter 25th

Essentially, as long as your not 3 at your position you can save money
Carrs contract saves us 12 mil vs Mahommes at 3
Waller saves us 3 mil
Adams saves us 14 mil vs a top 3 paid
Renfrow saves us 7 mil vs a top 10 paid
-

obviously just for 2023, but the biggest savings is clearly at WR. Having Adams as the 20th paid WR, should help us create space.

Those cap numbers don’t tell the whole story because Adams/Renfrow are still getting a bag via signing bonus and Davis isn’t exactly the richest owner

Yeah def not the whole story.
But we will def have room for a couple mid range Oline vet contracts, which should help our O a lot. Even average oline play would be great.
2024 is when a lot of the big money starts to kick in  I believe, but for next year we may be able to sneak by with a couple 1 year rental pickups.

edit to add - my plan would be, pick up cheaper Oline on short term deals. Go extremly heavy D in the draft. Hope to have enough salary cap to make 1 bigger D FA signing
D will still be a work in progress next year, no doubt, but if we can get Oline to average our O could make a jump.

I’ll also say, it’s not how I’d build a team from scratch, but with contracts we have already given out it’s what I think is best.

can’t have all our money going to O.
so our Oline is always going to need be value players, so we have money to spend on D

We need an influx of young talent via the draft.  DZ should invest heavily in the trenches via the draft.  If we pick 4th I could see us going Anderson/Carter.  2nd round I would look for good value at CB or RT.  3rd and beyond I would look at value on the interior Oline (G/C) and a run stuffing NT.

I really hope Payne hits the FA market and if that happens DZ needs to make signing him the number 1 priority.
