Obviously not elite like Chubb or Henry or CMC but they will be fine. That's not what analytics folks mean. The current analytics consensus is that unless you have a Chubb/McCaffery/Kamara/Cook/Henry type talent, the typical replacement backs are all going to be similar to each other enough that you shouldn't break the bank for them. That isn't an argument that all RB's are the same, it's an argument to not pay them like they are special if they aren't. And it's an argument that you can find adequate RB's for lower prices during any given off-season. But the key word there is "off-season". Because it's not. We're right at the start of the year. Not only will it take time for any RB to be ready to roll in BAL's system, but also they're looking at picking the bottom of the barrel clean. There's a reason Lev Bell and Devonta Freeman were FA's. No one wanted them. The Analytic "don't pay for RBs" advice isn't about Lev Bell and Gus Edwards or even Justice Hill being equal. It's about being able to find a Gus Edwards or Justice Hill in the off-season. But it's not the off-season. And at a position where injuries are common, Baltimore is already looking at going into the year with their 3rd (Ty'son) and 5th/6th (Cannon and Bell) string RBs being all they have left. Yes, Lamar is awesome and he changes the calculus for a running game. But he can't turn a scrub into a stud. This isn't world ending for Baltimore. But when you fit it into the rest of the pattern of injuries they've had all preseason, I have trouble seeing them as being on par with the Browns in their chances to compete this year, which I think they absolutely were 4 weeks ago.
NateDawg
In my fantasy league, I drafted Gus Edwards. As insurance, in case my RB2 Dobbins missed a week or something. A life for a life I guess..

NateDawg
My suggestion that they move Lamar Jackson back to his natural position was not a popular one 🙄

candyman93
Watching Dallas offense, Tampa Bay, and eventually Kansas City… Maybe we should keep OBJ and Jarvis…? The NFL is super pass dominant.

Teams are not even running RPO’s which has surprised me given how dominant it has become in college.

That’s the principle with analytics in general tbh. You pay elite, game changing guys who are difficult/impossible to replace. You pay “good” players if they take a salary that works for the team. You don’t pay good players like great ones and you don’t pay replacement level/middling players at all unless it’s an extremely team friendly deal.

You could tell them their sister is a bad kisser and they will get all angry knowing that she isn’t. Steeler fans here are at least more civil than the ones on Reddit
