Signature and Avatar Guidelines

Recommended Posts

A few quick notes on Sigs and avatars.  We'll get together a better guide at some point.

  • Sigs are now 600 X 120.  The new forum software should automatically enforce the guidelines. Just watch out for no animation.
  • You have to turn on sigs in your profile to see other member's sigs and your own.
  • You can turn off an individual members sig while still seeing other sigs if you want to.
  • Right now there are no sigs on mobile devices.

@Webmaster can we get two lines for text?

thats the only way you can get it to look like mine, otherwise they put everything to the right of the sig

(I'm grandfathered in from the Alpha, thats why I have it)

OK.  I updated it to two lines.

Is there a way to turn off the circle avatars? If people want a circle they could still have that, but right now there's no way to not have a circle.

No.  All the avatars will need to be circles. The last forum was kind of a mess with different sized avatars and we wasted way too much time dealing with sigs and avatars that were outside the guideline.

Speaking of, what are the circle dimensions? Or I guess Pixel diameter? I can make a template in photoshop with a circle the same size so I know what will fit right when I make people avi's

How do I add a picture sig. if its not a URL but something on my PC?  Windows 7

You need to add it via URL. I typically use this site to upload them:

http://postimages.org/

Also remember that your signature can only be 2 lines. A sig picture counts as one, so as your sig currently stands you'd need to merge "THE BOSTON TD PARTY" and "Foxborough, MA 9-7-17" to one line.

Hope that helps!

About Avatars: My understanding is that an avatar has to be less than .98 MB in size. I have uploaded two different avatars (pics from my computer, not from a URL) in the last day, both of which are well below the size limit, and they were successfully uploaded. BUT, when i returned to the forum a few hours later, both were gone! Note that I don't mean i somehow uploaded two at the same time. I uploaded one, and then hours later when it disappeared, I figured something was wrong with it and so uploaded another, but it has suffered the same fate. And both were WELL below the size limit, the second one was only 150 KB. Also, neither was pornographic, or what struck me as obviously inappropriate, and I assume had i uploaded an inappropriate avatar I would have gotten a message from a mod about that, but didn't.

What's up with this?

@Quark3 your avatars were removed because they looked like selfies.   Members are not allowed to post real pictures of themselves on the forums or use them in avatars, sigs, profiles, etc.   Member should not post any personal information on this forum.
