Lancaster Offensive Strategy: It feels like however this game plan goes, this game is going to turn into a shootout. So we’re going to lean into that with our game plan. Luckily for us we signed the king of shootouts this offseason with Matt Stafford. Stafford has more weapons on this Lancaster team than he’ll know what to do with and we’ll be spreading guys out all over the field to create mismatches. If we end up going up by two or more scores we’ll start going more run heavy to run out the clock and keep the Camden offense off the field.

The Passing Strategy: We’re going to feel pretty lucky if this game turns into a shootout because easily the biggest weakness on this Camden defense is the CB group. When we’re in the heavy passing mode of our game plan we’re going to be splitting Kamara and Kittle out wide a good amount to create mismatches on the outside. We’ve got tons of weapons for Stafford to spread the ball around to and give Camden trouble trying to cover them all. Denzel Ward is just decent and with Greedy Williams out, Ahkello Witherspoon looks to be their number 2 receiver. Camden has two really good safeties but they’ll only be able to do so much helping the CBs when they have to contend with Kittle and Kamara split out wide. We’re going to be pass heavy for at least the early portion of the game and Stafford thrives when he can air the ball out to actual playmakers.

The Running Strategy: We won’t be running a ton until we get a decent lead and are trying to run the clock out. Camden has a big tough interior DL but their edges are both guys who we feel we can run well against. Because of this we plan on utilizing a lot of outside runs where we pull our guards outside to create space. Our top backs Kamara and Breida are both guys that can turn the corner and turn the jets on and take a run to the house. Even if they don’t get a ton of usage we think they’ll be running for good gains throughout this game.

Lancaster Defensive Strategy: This Camden team coming off their BizzBowl win is no doubt extremely talented at the skill positions. However, their offensive line is pretty weak overall. The crux of our plan is to get after the QB and not give Wilson enough time to get the ball to his guys. In the ground game we believe we have a similar advantage where we think we can get enough push against their OL to limit Ezekiel Elliot’s effectiveness. We’re not going to stop this offense on every play but we feel that we can get enough stops to win this game.

The Pass Defense Strategy: Camden has one of, if not the, best WR groups in the BDL. However, we believe we have one of the best secondaries in the BDL and should be able to limit their effectiveness. We’re going to put Jalen Ramsey on DeAndre Hopkins, Jaire Alexander on AJ Brown, and Chris Harris Jr. on Cooper Kupp. Again, we anticipate that they will get some plays done but we have some tough corners for these receivers to contend with. We will have Vonn Bell playing in the box to cover Ezekiel Elliott when he comes out of the backfield. Bobby Wagner and Fred Warner will take turns covering Rob Gronkowski and spying Wilson to cut down on his mobility hurting us. Eddie Jackson will be playing a deep zone part time and helping with Gronk when he’s not doing that. Warner, Wagner, and Bell will all occasionally blitz as well. With those blitzes, our two young stud pass rushers, and Kenny Clark getting after the QB against this weak Camden OL, we expect to have success rushing the passer and disrupting Russell Wilson.

The Run Defense Strategy: We plan on rotating our INT guys a good bit this game to keep them fresh against a weak Camden interior OL. We’ve got two good run stopping LBs and Vonn Bell playing in this box. We think we should be able to limit Ezekiel Elliot today.

Offense (WCO style)
Week 1 and the schedule makers have shown us no favor against Lancaster. They bring a variety of weapons and talent in this match up but as usual we feel like we can go talent for talent with anyone, and now it comes down to scheme. Here are a few of the keys on offense for us against this Werewolf defense.

West Coast Offense style- The WCO has somewhat of an outdated rep with everyone going to wide open and spread heavy, but the fundamentals of the WCO are what suits our offensive talent by a mile with newer styles like Kyle Shanahan brings, and it's how we are going to win games. The prototype WCO QB is described as "mobile, accurate and intelligent" and if that's not Wilson, I don't know who is.

Quick passing- We're going to rely on a lot of quick passing because our WR's can do major damage after the catch. We'll use lots of slants, crossing routes, high/low concepts to create confusion allow our WR's and TE's to find space and create havoc. Majority of the time, we want to line Kupp and Brown up on the same side, and we'll use lots of rub techniques to get Brown the ball, because we've seen how hard he is to bring down. Hopkins will remain our no. 1. This also helps combat the Lancaster pass rush, which we know is good, but it won't matter if the ball is gone. Gronk will be involved in the middle of the field heavily if Lancaster goes into a cover 2 shell, he'll be our seam buster and red zone monster. When Engram comes into the game, he'll play more of a big slot role than a traditional TE role, and he'll often share the field with Gronk when he's in.

Run game- The WCO was created for teams to replace a run heavy offense with short passing, but it also needs an effective run game to create space for the bread and butter play action. With Zeke in the fold, Russ has a better backfield mate than he ever has, and he'll be our bell cow against this defense. The majority of our offensive line are very athletic, and while the Lancaster DL is very good, we're hoping to run these guys ragged moving side to side and making them chase Zeke. With the weapons we have on the outside, it's going to be very hard to stack the box against us, meaning if one person on that front seven doesn't do their job in the run game it could be daylight for Zeke.

Play action passing- No matter how effective the run game has been during a game, when you have a player like Zeke in the backfield everyone is taking a step forward as soon as Russ turns to hand it to him, and that's where we can make teams pay. With Lancaster bringing in a very aggressive group of CB's, we feel we can use that against them in this facet and force some big errors, which turn into big plays for us. We'll take our deep shots off the PA today.

Defense (4-3 Cover 1 Robber base)
Just like their defense, Lancaster brings a lot of weapons into the fold on offense. Their weakest link however could be their QB, and that's saying a lot because Mayfield is still a good QB. Where Mayfield has faulted is where he is trying to force things to happen that aren't there, and we think pressure and confusion are the two biggest kryptonites to a guy who is prone to making those mistakes. Here is how we want to do that:

Pressure- This is no secret, everyones goal is to get pressure on the QB. Whether you have the personnel and scheme to do that or not is different, and we believe we do. Our keys will be depth, and rotation and movement. With our base formation we have Ngakoue and Crosby as our starters, and both guys specialize in pressure and forced fumbles, but behind them we have Sweat, Lawson and rookie Josh Uche. All 3 have experience rushing from the 3 point stance or standing up at some point in their careers, so when they're rotated in they could come off the edge traditionally, or standing. The standing part is where the confusion aspect comes in.
           - With our robber in play most of the game, our standing pass rusher could easily drop into coverage and clog up a lane while our robber blitzes, rush the passer alongside a blitzing robber or just be an extra man in coverage.

Robber- We love our safeties, and in Camden we've always loved the robber role because it's so versatile and fits our best playmaker Jamal Adams perfectly. Most of the game, he's our robber. He will live closer to the line of scrimmage and in effect has multiple roles. He's the best blitzing safety in the league, so we can attack Mayfield from there, he can slide into quick passing lanes when Mayfield needs to get rid of the ball but most importantly when a team has a running threat like Kamara he's able to get to the LOS faster to help in run support. We think Baker will rely heavily on a successful run game to not be predictable here, and our personnel is suited to shut that down.

Cover 1- With Evans being dinged up, we'll shade our deep safety to AJ Green's side in case he's still the player he once was. Size is not the strength of our CB's but speed and quickness is so we'll task them to stick with their men in man to man coverage to force Baker to hold onto the ball a little longer. Ward will shadow Green today, with Dennard matching up on Evans and Maddox taking whoever mans their slot role. Our LB's are as athletic as they come, and they'll work in conjunction with each other to handle the role of following the TE's and RB's out of the backfield. Our robber will also assist in following Kamara around as well.

Lane Johnson out this week I believe.

Good matchup, very balanced. I want to give it to Camden as quite frankly they turned in the better gameplan, but honestly I think the biggest advantages in the game are in the trenches for Lancaster. That DL in particular is pretty nasty. Don't think this is quite the shootout Lancaster is anticipating: 28-24 Lancaster

Really good matchup, liked both the writeups.  Some nitpicky things with Camden's - play action usually is used to freeze LBs and Safeties, CBs busy on the first break at that point of the play;  and why no specific game planning for Kittle? Other than that I love Russ in a WCO with Zeke and friends, but I think it will only be as effective as your line being at least consistent.  I like Lancaster's diversity on weapons, I think if you dont get imaginative week to week, you are doing yourself a disservice.  THe biggest mismatch for me on this one is Wolves D Line vs. Rats O Line and that limits Camdens offense enough to give Lancaster the win.

So this is one I had been going back and forth on all morning. This is such a great matchup with the Camden Offense against the Lancaster defense. And even the other way around. I think the Camden offense is the difference here. One thing Camden has Ward in and he didn’t play. But a dinged up Evans allows them to get away with Snead I assume is taking his place. A close game and no Lane Johnson gives a slight edge to Camden. A very tough one for me.
