diamondbull424
Whelp... this debate looks to be settling right up. Baker has shown he can be at least a game manager to that run game and quality defense. Trubisky has consistently shown he cant do that. Now he’s been benched for Nick Foles, unless he pulls a Tannehill, it might be it for him as a starting QB in the NFL.

Wasn't asked to pass the ball much the past two games, and is just being asked to be smart when he does throw it. We're playing to our strengths, and hopefully Baker will start to do more once he gets more acclimated with the offense. He really only made one bad decision today throwing a ball that could have easily been intercepted, but he caught a break with OBJ breaking up the pass. It was basically the opposite last year with Freddie. Freddie didn't utilize Chubb and Hunt nearly enough and asked Baker to put too much on his shoulders every week. The biggest thing is that we can't allow the opposing team to get too big of a lead early on, or else we'll be forced to abandon the run, which is what happened when we played you guys. I didn’t watch this game, but I’ve watched the first two games and you guys have a great run defense. Checking the first two games and it’s 4th best in the league based on Run DVOA. Now the passing defense is another story... it’s definitely pretty terrible, for understandable reasons. However that’s kind of the point. If you’re running the clock and playing the TOP you can cutdown some of the shootout nature to games that would expose the pass defense. So top 10 run defense and bottom 10 pass defense, I consider that a quality defense. It provides you a coaching component that you can hang your hat on typically in building the best winning strategy.
Phinsesq
In my opinion the verdict is in on Trubisky (time to move on), with Mayfield the jury is still out, as it is the early part of his 3rd season.
