Definitely wouldn't say they're atrocious. Held Denver to 16 points at home given all the possessions the Raiders gave them after so many 3 & outs. Their run defense was pretty solid up until this game too.

So spine? That sounds dangerous. There is liquid back there ewww. Gosh hope he recovers safely.. Back injuries are by far the worse.

Went digging further to find out what exactly it was. Turns out he fractured his transverse process.

And from an article on these types of injuries:

Among injuries to the back, fractures of the transverse processes of the lumbar vertebrae are not rare, although it is to be emphasized that bony anomalies in this region are frequent and may tend to confuse the diagnosis. The most common cause of fracture of the transverse processes is direct violence. The symptoms and physical signs are those of a severe sprain or contusion of the back. Such fractures are usually multiple. When uncomplicated by body fracture, all the fractures are usually on the same side.

The disability caused by the injury is due solely to the associated contusion or sprain of the back, and the presence of the fracture is negligible as far as prolongation of disability is concerned. Owing to the frequency of traumatic neurosis, it is preferable that knowledge of an existing fracture be kept from the patient. Bony union of the fractured transverse processes is definite in some of these cases. More careful examination of backs should be made before employing men over forty at hard labor.

The treatment required is rest in bed, heat and massage. Prolonged immobilization is no more necessary than in any contusion or sprain of the back. In this series patients were able to walk after an average period of sixteen days. Disability over six months is out of the ordinary. The majority of patients should be at work within two months with practically no complaints referable to the injury.

Wow. I feel terrible for Oakland. If he doesn't make it back before 3 weeks, I don't see them able to make the playoffs. They had problems even with him healthy.

Lynch has been a bust (I don't know why no one else saw that coming). Their defense is atrocious and has taken a step back....And their divisions too strong to keep up.

poor Oakland. They could have seen their team in the Superbowl before they left for Vegas...now I doubt that happens.

Sidenote: Anyone else notice that Mariota and Carr have gotten hurt twice now in the exact same week two years in a row??

Doesn't matter. He can dance on the sidelines. And that's...important?

That's rough. If it's more than the minimum 2 that could really disrupt their season. They had what should've been 2 easyish wins coming up in the Chargers and Ravens, which will now be very iffy games. And if they have to go without Carr beyond that, when they play KC and Buffalo (and that KC game is really in 2 1/2 weeks, with it being a Thursday nighter) they could wind up in too deep of a hole. They could be at 3-5 a month from now with the Pats, Chiefs, Broncos, Cowboys, and Eagles left to go.
