It really is so good.. I have also seen it a bazillion times. It's been a little while though.

Great cast.. Malkovich kills it as Teddy and Worm is the most despicable person to have as a friend ever.

Apparently Malkovich got a lot of criticism for that accent, but I thought he did great. If not an accurate accent, he was entertaining anyway.

My favorite story about Rounders is that everybody that had any kind of skin in the movie was so new to the business and getting Malkovich to sign on was so huge that when he showed up doing the accent, nobody had the balls to tell him not to do it. In the end, it turned out to be iconic lol.

I don't recall a thread for this, but here's a trailer for MMPR: Once & Always. And my way too long review:

Imagine ~55 minutes of the OG Power Rangers filmed by a porno company but without any porn. Not that I know what porn looks like, but just imagine it. That’s what this was like, theoretically. It had acting, lighting, and direction so bad that you keep expecting a giant dong to appear, but thankfully never does. Or does it? No spoilers here.

I loved that it was based around the original 6 with all of them making an appearance of some sort; even if in name only.
RIP Trini -- it’s in the trailer and not a spoiler since she died in 2001.
. A lot could have been done to make this more believable and less porno like, but they chose choices. I didn’t watch past the 1st or maybe 2nd iteration of the Power Rangers so I didn’t know everyone. But it’s great seeing 40+ year old, overweight individuals have relevance again. It gives me something to look forward to. I just wish we all got obviously skinnier, more athletic stunt doubles for important moments in life.

Overall, there was a lot of potential left on the table. This could have been something so, so, so much better and become a springboard for future endeavors. But at the same time, it was something terribly great or even greatly terrible. I honestly cannot figure out what the budget was spent on though. Talent? Doubtful. CGI? Does community college student CGI course work cost that much? I don’t know. Catering costs? Likely.

If you enjoyed the OG Power Rangers, I give this a recommendation. Justt remember that the giant Megazord dong never comes… or does it? A better D and DP would have elevated this movie. That’s not an innuendo (or is it?); that’s director and director of photography in some circles. David Yost and Walter Jones deserved better imo. So much missed potential here for a legit stepping stone. Still, some decent nostalgia here. I’d give this a 2/10 on a normal scale and a 6/10 on a nostalgia scale. The live comedy theater two drink minimum should be in effect when watching this.

The actress playing Trini’s daughter was just soooooo bad.

I saw Evil Dead Rise last night, it was excellent. The high rise apartment was a great change of pace from the usual cabin (in the woods, lol) and it makes for some damn good set pieces and bloody good horror. Oh yes, it offers plenty of that, which is what you come to an Evil Dead movie to see. The kills are, dare I say, creatively brutal. I couldn't believe this was made for less than a quarter of Renfield's budget (it somehow only cost $15m) with all the effects used and it was real fake blood, too, none of that cheap CGI shyt (which usually looks terrible), which I also appreciated. Seriously, that's a lot of corn syrup (see what I did there?).

But I really liked the family dynamic as well. The family was surprisingly well-written, I was surprised by how much I found myself actually caring about their safety when it gets to the shameless brutality and when it does, the mom (Ellie) is probably one of the creepiest horror movie villains I've seen in years. She steals the show when the whole demonic possession happens and blood hits the fan. She provides some nice (foul) comedic-relief as well (kinda like the Deadite chick in the 2013 remake, maybe moreso even).

It's a must-watch for Evil Dead fans and even for the average horror fan.

I watched most of the Thing (2011) and it was pretty enjoyable actually

If that movie...

*used the practical effects they slapped CGI over
*came up with a better test
*didn't leave Antarctica
*let the black dude say the F word instead of "friggin" when it was rated R anyway
*cut out the completely pointless female (not Mary Elizabeth Winstead, the other one)
*slowed things down, took its time
*didn't kill half the characters during the test scene
*didn't devolve into a basic creature feature immediately after the test scene
*didn't do anything with the inorganic material angle whatsoever (it doesn't make any sense at all; even if it did at first, it didn't at the end. The Thing is an intelligent creature. After it learned about its "inability" to produce inorganic material and replicate it, it certainly would have remembered to imitate the look of inorganic material and it certainly would have remembered which ear an earring was on).
*did better on the suicide (giving a reason for it, showing an explanation for how he was able to slit his throat that deep after slitting his wrists)

It might have been a good movie.

There was a lot of positives to it. The two face creature not actually being an assimilation interrupted and being what the prequel made it was fantastic. That was a legitimately skin crawling scene. The arms coming off and becoming their own entities was great.

After watching this video, I stopped blaming the director. I think the director did a very okay job in making something unique. Basically the ending was what I had always believed in my head. The Thing was just a specimen that a different alien species had found, it got out and took over the ship.

There was so, so, so, so much potential with this movie and it breaks my heart that studio executives coked out and out of touch got involved. I believe the director had a lot of love and respect for the original, and I believe his vision could have been a very fun companion piece. I also believe it would have been better received, which might have led to a sequel.

Now I just watch the movie as a warmup to the 82 version. Sad, sad, sad.

Did you ever get your GED or did you just stick with the dropout title on your resume?

Lol I was only kidding. Was just hoping to get this kind of response and you didn’t let me down.

Changed my mind. Superman II was awful, the original movie was good tho.
