Weย signed none.ย  Our top 3 paid defensive players are Cle, Littleton, and Ngakoue.ย  Combined there are making under $20 million this year.ย  We have $19 million in injured reserve money and over $33 million in dead cap.ย  Our active contracts are just over $133 million.ย  Injuries suck and we have been screwed with players actions and wants.ย  We already have $15 million of dead cap in 2023 because of restructures.ย  Management of the cap has been horrible.

Yep, all the way around this.ย

The contracts we've taken on like Mariota, Nassib, even Drake are just outright bad.ย

The only lucky break we've had has been some of our better players on cheap or rookie deals, but we've essentially wasted that window anyway.ย

Real question, has there been any free agent that we've signed to a large contract that has panned out under Mayock?

Panned out? Probably not. There may be a few guys we say "Eh, they cost us a bit more but..."

However, not one single contract has been justified by results to the point of saying "That worked, let's resign them when this deal is up."

Gutting the offensive line to "improve the defense" was such a dumb move. What high priced defensive free agents did we even sign who are making a huge impact outside of Yannick? Hayward got $2.5M, Perryman got $3M, Solly/Jefferson got $3M each.

but the OL needed to be broken up. Gabe was overpaid, he was making all pro money. Trent Brown had a turd attitude and had to go, and Hudson was aging. He has been hurt almost the entire year for the Cardinals. we needed to free up the money. However, we could have used the money more wiselyย

Maybe not gut it all at once considering coaches were thinking 38 year old Richie Incognito would atleast start the season.ย

My whole thing though with that is how come for some reason Peyton barber looks better every time he carries the ball with the same line.

That's my only thing

Teams definitely aren't keying in on the run as much.

Also, Jacobs is dancing too much. He needs to hit the holes.

ya, I thought it was dumb to keep Richie around. James has been good but Leatherwood has struggled and we were counting him. On paper Good should have been a cheaper Gabe Jacksonย

Only one I can really think of is Ngakoue who's been pretty good. I think the signings of Solomon Thomas and Casey Hayward have been great but if course they are not really large contracts. Out of all the marquee type signings Trent Brown, Cory Littleton, Antonio Brown, Marcus Mariota, Kenyan Drake, Nick Kwiatkoski they've all really underwhelmed.

It's the low cost, value type signings we've had success with such as Agholor, Perryman, Hayward, Incognito (initially), Good, Thomas, Facyson, Philon have all been good relative to their cost.

Agreed. Barber is running decisively and employs a one-cutย North/South running style. Jacobs gets too cute with the jump cuts and dancingย and triesย to bounce too many runs outside instead ofย maximizing whatโ€™s available. He also looks slow when the play is blocked well.
ย

Every RB gets bottled up on the majority of their runs. But when there is daylight they can explode and picK up 20+ yards once or twice a game (See Chubb yesterday) and end up at 4+ YPC for the game. Jacobs just doesnโ€™t have the juice to get those longer runs which is why he has to do a better job of grinding out every yard available.ย
ย

Iโ€™m honestly at the point where Iโ€™m ready to run Barber as our RB1 and have Jacobs come in to spell him. Aside from being a former 1st rounder, Jacobs has done nothing to earn RB1 status this year.ย
