BullsandBroncos
Drew Glass. I wonder who we will pick to replace him in the draft.

Not saying he is the long term solution, but he might be a capable stop gap, at least.

The hit was vicious... 3-6 weeks after that hit suggests to me the kid is tough.

DoleINGout
Just no Lock with this injury.
lomaxgrUK
Bigger issue for the Broncos long term is the game rep loss with Drew being hurt, as opposed to wins and losses. This team (without Von, anyway) can't threaten the playoffs anyway, but to lose your QB who you're trying to figure out is the answer, is, well, not ideal. Driskel showed well yesterday but teams will be preparing for him now, not Lock. I expect a big fall from grace over the next few weeks. Broncofan
Posted this on our Forums, over here for the rest of the FF crowd: ------------------------ Really unfortunate for both DEN & Lock - on this play Watt literally beats Wilkinson to the spot - most QB's take a sack here. Lock's ability to sense pressure actually is a curse here - but only because he stumbles as he avoids a surefire sack by Watt. In fact, to say it's an unfortunate injury is an understatement - Lock did an amazing job to avoid Watt, and then because he stumbled, he had no chance to get rid of the ball, or to avoid the hit while vulnerable. The problem is that the mechanism of injury raises a very real possiblity there's a labrum tear - and if that's the case, it's a season ender. If it's a labrum tear, people will hear the words "career-threatening" - and in the case of baseball, that's very true. Andrew Luck, Cam Newton & Drew Brees are the famous examples for QB's. Brees obviously has been OK health-wise, and Cam's back - but I think it's fair to say that Cam's arm is still being questioned if it's the same as before, and it was a long road back from the shoulder surgery. And we know the toll Luck took. But here's the kicker - Brees' recovery was successful with a more extensive injury, and sooner than Cam / Luck's recovery - because it was treated early - and not caught late, where more wear & tear developed (Cam & Luck). Plus there is a big difference between a repair (Cam) and full reconstruction (Brees & Luck). Hopefully it's not a labrum tear, as that's a season-ender. But it won't be the same kind of injury as Cam/Luck experienced, given the delay in diagnosis (Cam & Luck), either, and repair vs. reconstruction (Luck). All we can do is sit and wait for the MRI...and hope for the best, but be ready for the worst-case news. Broncofan
7 minutes ago, Deadpulse said: Not after last nights game IMO Sure - but even then, it's 2 years post-repair (not a full reconstruction) - it's fair to say this has been a Q up to now given his play with CAR last year (and FWIW, it's not how it looks early on with rest - it's how does it hold up over a season - no disagreement that Cam looked as healthy as he's been since surgery last night). The original point is that labrum tears dealt with later on are a lot riskier than tears that are dealt with right away. Obviously, it's better to not have the tear - but the point was to contrast how different the injuries that ppl will reference will be very different than Lock's situation, should this be the worst-case. Not really meant to start a Cam convo in a Lock injury thread lol. Edited September 21, 2020 by Broncofan
Tetsujin
My sleeper QB pick for 2020 is no more. Luckily I picked up Cam as a FA Friday and started him because I didn't like Lock's matchup yesterday. BroncosFan2010
I hope we give him the full 6 weeks to recover. No need to rush him back. The team has already been decimated by injuries and at this point we should reluctantly write any WC chances this season off. I thought we had about a 25-30% chance to snag a WC spot but now I would put that at about 5%, maybe less. Time to just get the young guys snaps. They have looked pretty good so far. Broncofan
If that post is correct, there's a MAJOR problem with the news. 2-6 weeks and labrum/rotator "issue" are actually contradictory pieces of news. This needs to be clarified, because there's no way to feel safe with any type of labrum injury in a throwing shoulder. That's a contradictory statement that was just made (Klis is the media mouthpiece for DEN's FO). A couple of take-home messages: 1. The Broncos would be wise to NOT rush Lock back, if the labrum's involved. 2. MRI's that show ANY tear of the labrum is a cause for concern. First, because MRI's aren't as accurate with shoulder injuries (unlike elbows/knees/hips/spine), because of the complexity of the shoulder itself. And more importantly, because that's an injury that can worsen and wear over time. It's exactly what happened to Luck & Cam - an initial injury was labelled as minor, and got worse with more wear & tear. The fear is that Lock tries to rehab, and then feels pain on resumption of full throws - and then he gets season ending arthroscopic surgery (because MRI isn't definitive, more pain / symptoms would then lead to this). For a throwing shoulder, a labrum tear of any kind is VERY worrisome. This is actually still very concerning. Hopefully it's such a small tear that it heals (which honestly is not a high likelihood with pitchers/QB's) - so that's not the best possible news. The best possible news was the labrum was intact. Saying there's a labral injury is still a problem. Ugh. Edited September 21, 2020 by Broncofan
Broncofan
FWIW this is a far more accurate post in tone - and a severe strain = tear. This is not "relatively good news" - SMH Klis.
diamondbull424
I though Driskel was a better decision maker out there yesterday. His arm is life enough to get things done. Denver might actually have a better chance winning with him moving forward. edit: For this season, I should note. Next season, depending on the severity of the injury, it wouldn’t hurt to draft another QB and go from there.
