Trade Targets?

I’m usually pretty anti doing mid season trades, but considering the 49ers have injuries and Brees looks old, this is a year where we legitimately could swing a deal for a player to improve on the margin.

Looking at our draft capital, due to comp picks we’re probably going to have 2 extra 4ths (Bulaga pick might be a 5th) and an extra 6th, which means we legitimately could trade our second and not really feel a sting.

Definitely want to see how the next few weeks play out, but this could be interesting to watch.

Added, Bulaga pick might be a 5th... point of the argument still stands, the team has extra draft capital

JJ Watt should be our trade target. In week 8, when the Texans are with a 2-6 record, and he has a 7.75M cap hit for us (we are around 8.5-9M under the cap), we should send a 2nd and a 4th round for him. He seems to be quite unhappy with were the team is going. It's the perfect match. And our defense would be scary. Imagine a Clark-Gary-Smith-Smith-Watt front on 3rd downs.

I'm not opposed to a trade and would love to get JJ Watt in town.  Nothing would be better.

But....I don't think you have to trade to get better.  Make Snacks an offer he can't refuse the week before our bye.  Don't play him that week, let him watch and learn.  Let him learn and get into some sort of shape in the bye, then get him out there fresh.  That's the wise play.

And if you want some help at LB...can't help but wonder if Clay wouldn't come back for a few games.  Get him in at ILB, let him rush, let him drop.  That's more of a reach than Snacks but something worth entertaining.

IF he can stay healthy until then...
