You could possibly see an even more active trade market this year than other years if the cap is indeed going down next season. A lot of teams need to dump players and now is the time to get any draft capital possible.

really good point.  Cowboys made a point of restructuring to save cap room next year

If we are going to win the Super Bowl we are going to have to be able to stop the run.

JJ Watt

Leonard Williams

This isn't meant to be rude, does anyone think we're actually going to make a move like either of these two?

I just do not see there being any chance they'll go big like that

I get the Texans and Giants are pretty bad rn but they also aren't trading their best DLinemen 2 weeks into the season either.

I could see LW being traded. He was acquired for a 3rd and 5th a year ago and is getting overpaid. I don't see JJ happening though.

The point of this though is more to evaluate options. I could see us making a move.

Almost certainly not but wouldn't it be great? I mean, this might be it for the Packers under Rodgers, this might be the year. Next year we're losing Linsley who's killing it, we might lose Jones who's a stud, we might lose King who's playing well...

The Packers are almost certainly going to be a worse team overall on paper next season even with some internal growth. After that, Rodgers is probably gone. If you want a year to go for it all....this is probably it.

How is GB going to fit Leonard Williams $16M base salary into their 2020 cap situation?  Granted it would be 7/8 of that, so in the $14M ball park....which GB does not have at the moment

This includes the Packers... whom I believe are already over the agreed minimum... so I'm not sure they're going to be buyers unless they find a good deal.

Going to toss out some names from teams that have  A) poor records currently B) limited cap space for 2021 based on the spotrac projections

Charles Omenihu HOU - on rookie contract, so not much cap savings for HOU
Shamar Stephen MIN - $3.6M in base for 2020 and 2021.  $2.6M total dead cap for MIN.  not a lot of savings there for them
Armon Watts MIN - on rookie contract
Danny Shelton DET - former first round pick.  2020 base $1.5M, 2021 $4M.  total dead cap for DET $2.5M
Nick Williams DET - 2020 $2.9M base and 2021 $4.1M.  Total dead cap $2.0M

Trading with division foes? Unlikely no?

I don’t expect for us to make that trade but if we decide this is the year to go all out then I could see it. Baltimore is looming like the 1A team and right now they would run through us like the niners playoff game.

Please don't talk about a Ravens/Packers Super Bowl.
