RIP I feel like everyone in that 18-35 age bracket now owes their dad or grandpa a phone call to break the news, because he was every dad's favorite player.
MWil23
Absolutely AWFUL news. The dude was a legend, and really helped kickstart a lot from an inclusive desegregation point of view. Him and Brian Piccolo were the first ever interracial roommates.

I've cried watching one, and only one, movie in my life. It was Brian's Song, with my dad.

While that's "movie tragic", it's not real life tragic, and I'm a history teacher. Just now, ramssuperbowl99 said: Yep it's the ultimate guy cry movie. Gonna have to put that on this weekend. I'll probably rewatch it with my wife, who will also cry everytime. Last year via Thanksgiving, when they had those three Piccolo girls (now all grown up) on FOX pregame talking about their dad's legacy and Gale Sayers and what he means/meant to them in their formative years, I absolutely lost it...again. Sheesh...it's starting to get misty right now just thinking about it.
MWil23
Some of my favorite ever Sayers quotes...I'm a quote person, so I hope you guys enjoy: Quote “We must stop the trend of closing schools and building prisons.”-- Gale Sayers “The Lord is first, my friends are second, and I am third.”-- Gale Sayers “There comes a time when you have to stand up and be counted.”-- Gale Sayers “Our young people look up to us. Let us not let them down. Our young people need us. Saving them will make heroes of us all.”-- Gale Sayers “I don't care to be remembered as the man who scored six touchdowns in a game. I want to be remembered as a winner in life.”-- Gale Sayers

40Year Pack Fan
It's not always easy giving a division foe their props, but Gale Sayers and Walter Peyton were two of the best RB's I've ever seen play the game....Sayers was known as the Kansas Comet for a reason, as his running ability was out of this world....RIP Mr. Sayers...

I think that’s the guy cry rite of passage movie. For me lately though it’s been Milan, just because I’ve had to watch it so much.
RamblinMan99
Gale Sayers was better than Walter Payton. I don't care what anybody has to say about that.
