Elway signs Blake Bortles

Recommended Posts

He's a gunslinger. We have the tools to make some noise in this offense.

Not a bad mover for me.

Yes certainly some bad  pick coming but he knows the speed of the game.

Great stop gap during Lock's injury and i think better than Driskel

So when does he get released, or does Driskel get cut ?

He or Driskel likely won’t get cut until Lock is ready to return.   Sounds like it’s still going to be a while (not surprising).

Fair to be cautiously optimistic for 10/18?

I’m hearing Lock will likely be back in week 6. He could play Sunday but it sounds like they’ll give him one more week off.

It all depends on how he feels once he starts throwing again.  If he feels OK after repeated throwing then the window opens.    Participating in practice on repeated days will give the best sign of getting close.

It’s like pitchers rehab though.

In baseball you want to know if it’s soft toss / long toss / flat ground / mound / facing batters / live practice & game.

First throw a tennis ball.    Then football short toss.   Then 20 yards at half speed.  Then 40 yards.   Then practice.   Then live.   Every step pause & see how it feels next day after ramping up the effort required with each escalation.    It’s more helpful to know the effort required - why throwing in practice is so helpful because it’s obvious if it’s full effort throws or not yet.

It’s good news he’s progressed to throwing footballs.   Now it’s how far & how long (IE how much max effort is required) - and how he feels as he gets closer to 100 percent effort throws.   That’s why return to practice and throwing live on repeated days is the more telling sign.
