It’s like rain on your wedding day. It’s like a free ride when your already late. It’s like good advice that you just can’t take. Who would have thought or figured?

I’m really showing my age with this reference.

Absolute fire flames song right there.

Fun fact: she was married to Deadpool

Have been watching the tape on Slay, definitely like what I see. Have him at 8 catches allowed on 12 targets for just 77 yards. 4 of them for less than 10 yards, 3 were not even 1st downs. 1 breakup. 0 penalties. Shadowed McLaurin in week 1, stayed at mostly LCB in week 2, and then shadowed AJ last week. Noticed trend in games that Slay's cushion slowly "deflates" as game wears on and he'll begin to play up tighter (which probably can be attributed to the situation, as we keep find ourselves trailing). Wish we just deployed him like that from start, where we can best utilize his talents. Doesn't need to press and knock guys off their route, but let him play up and try to disrupt timing routes, be in better position for making plays. His speed and recovery is pretty good, I am not too worried about him getting burnt often even if he lined up more aggressively like this.

On the 80 coverage snaps I have logged, I'm seeing what looks like man, at least for Slay, 3x as much as zone. So that's a silver lining I guess, Schwartz hasn't just plugged Slay into 2019 defense.

Where our qualified players rank, out of how many, heading into week 4 as told by PFF..

Offense

Wentz- 33/35

Sanders- 40/54

DJax- 83/118

Ward- 95/118

Reagor- 107/118

Hightower- 116/118

JJAW- 117/118

Goeddert- 17/67

Ertz- 38/67

Lane- 26/71

Peters- 46/71

Kelce- 11/34

Herbig- 18/79

Seumalo- 50/79

So on the entire offense, by PFF's analysis, we've only had 4 players playing at an above average level at their position, and almost all of that probably comes from their work in run blocking (Goeddert, Kelce, Lane and Herbig).

Defense

Cox- 7/121

Malik- 18/121

Ridgeway- 57/121

Hargrave- 75/121

Sweat- 10/110

Graham- 32/110

Barnett- 62/110

Edwards- 17/77

Duke- 48/77

Gerry- 52/77

Slay- 35/109

Le'Blanc- 69/109

NRC- 89/109

Maddox- 96/109

McLeod- 22/80

Mills- 48/80

Defense is another story, PFF seems to think our front has been pretty good despite what I think I've been seeing with my own eyes, either way, certainly have been better than offense so no surprise to see 7 above average performers, and only a handful of guys near league worst (cornerback...).
