GW21
I wish we would have just went with Skule at LS. I'd much rather have a backup OT handle the duties then using a roster spot on a LS if we could.

You have to devote alot of time in pratice and meetings being the full-time LS. That pulls you away from O-Line meetings and pratice reps. He's the emergency LS in case of a emergency. But being a full-time LS requires just as much reps, game prep and working on your craft as any other full-time position on the field. That's why all teams have a roster spot devoted just for that sole purpose.

I know the value of a good LS, but that doesn't mean we cant have someone spend enough time on it to be good. The only problem with this is that while the rest of the team is practicing, your LS/backup OLman cannot be in two places at once
rudyZ
If we were to have an OL do the long snapping, why should it be Skule? Why not an interior lineman instead? Why not McKivitz, who has already had practice snaps at C (I think). I'd rather Skule be versatile enough to play inside rather than play LS. I don't care so much for my interior linemen to be versatile enough to play outside, as they often have limitations on the outside anyway. So, if Skule can spend 90% of his time working on playing OT, and 10% working on OG. McKivitz and Compton are probably working at OG and OC already, so they already work on snapping the ball, giving them a leg up on long snapping. Anyways.. I don't mind wasting a spot on a LS. The LS isn't just a guy who throws a ball backward, he's often also someone running down the field to make a tackle. And some long snappers become legends. Some become avatars.

He was the guy who came in and replaced Nelson. That is why he’s being mentioned.
TecmoSuperJoe
Justin Skule's emergency long snap looked so slow against the Giants. Gotta have a full time dude out there. Crazy how Nelson lost his job after one bad day at the office. He had been with the team 6 years. Well according to Shanny the decision wasn't based on just last Sunday. Said it had been trending that way for awhile as far as in practice. Don't know how true that is but that's the story they're peddling.

If they were to use lie energy on something, they wouldn't lie about a LS. I, for instance, lie about my income and what's in my pants. I don't lie about long snappers.
