I've read that due to Bienemy's past and the fact that his interviews are bad, he hsn't been hired. I doubt that has to do with Nagy

Given his legal troubles I have no idea why anyone would trust this guy to run a team on his own...I wouldn't even interview him.

Poorly run across the board. Even if we fire Nagy/Pace - who are choosing the next guys? I think we need an established GM who's proven in the last decade to be qualified for the job.

My biggest concern right now is Justin Fields. The guy shows some flashes, but not nearly enough. This feels like a Daniel Jones situation.

I really hope the Trace Armstrong rumor has some legs to it, even though he came out and denied it instantly.  But I don't think his denial necessarily means that there haven't been some preliminary talks behind the scenes.

I think he's just saving face because as a current agent to coaches like Nagy, it would create a conflict of interest if people knew he was in talks with Bears about joining them in any capacity after the season concludes.

I think he'd be a perfect fit for president of Football Ops and I pray it happens.

Call it Daniel Jones but I'll say it feels like Mitch Trubisky all over again.  High draft pick QB who shows some promise but will likely never reach his true potential with this team.  But if this happened then who would really be surprised?  That's the Chicago Bears franchise perennial dysfunction for you.

This team is so poorly constructed and coached it is verging on amazing. I cannot believe we kept these idiots around to waste a season.

It's easier to believe when you realize the idiots in charge who are handling these decisions.  People will never learn I guess.

At this point the franchise will have to luckily stumble into something great in order to reverse their long history of being bad.

.let him deal with shareholders and construction companies and have a proper football guy in place for all the on the field stuff…

Other than Andrew McKenna and Pat Ryan (20% ownership) all of the Bears stock is owned by the McCaskey Family.  So not much doing there that isn't known.

But Phillips is the obvious guy to be the "mission specialist" as far as the development of the Arlington property and a new stadium.  He was the keyman in the organization when the renovation of SF took place and by now he should easily be able to see what mistakes have hindered it as being a prime NFL venue.

If for the very first time in their ownership history the McCaskeys are finally willing to step back and simply own while allowing someone with better skills to operate their team then they will be doing what they should've years ago.  This team is doomed to it's mediocrity until they realize it and there's a major change.

The McCaskey family remind me of hard core alcoholics who keep doing the same things but expect different results.  Without some "earth shattering" change it's unlikely any cure will work for very long which is what I've been saying for years.

If Trace Armstrong isn't a prospect to take charge of the Bears football ops then keep searching for another like him.  The rumor may have some legs or knowing LaCanfora it may be nothing but his own thoughts creating the rumor.  Tough to say right now.

But if Armstrong has been solicited for his interest in the position and declined this is precisely what I've been saying all along about not being so cocky about working for the Bears and the McCaskeys being a life long dream that's just too choice to resist.

Whether it's an Exec VP position, GM, or simply the HC I believe the Bears will find it's gonna be more difficult to fill these positions than many believe especially after the last decade.  In the 2000s the Bears were still a pretty good team. Now they're bottom feeders.

Could not have said this better myself.  Well, in facts it's pretty much what I have been saying all along.

Ryan Pace’s shortcomings doom Chicago Bears in prime time

The Chicago Bears lost Sunday despite scoring 30 points. It was the most energized we had seen the team all season on both sides of the ball and they put forth the best first-half “product” anyone had seen from them in about two years. Despite all this, they found themselves only up 6 going into halftime and essentially left for dead the second the Packers went up by a touchdown early in the third quarter.

However, in many ways, this loss was a microcosm for the entire Nagy era. The Bears come out on fire, playing fast, and scoring at a prolific rate. Those new to watching the Bears probably were shocked and impressed thinking the Bears were well on their way to beating the Packers and perhaps righting the ship this season.

Unfortunately, those who have followed this team for a while knew what was coming next. The Packers, despite a god-awful first-half performance, hung around and waited for the Bears’ big plays to fizzle out. Once that happened, Rodgers did what he always does and sent the Bears packing with yet another loss.

Much like Nagy’s tenure itself, the Bears had early hope only to fail and flounder the minute the opposition adjusted to their gameplan leaving them disappointed and looking for the whys postgame.

The Chicago Bears proved yet again they are who we thought they were.

In many ways, I feel for the players. All week, they had ‘bulletin-board’ material to get themselves ready to go for this game and as energized as they were to come out and play that game, it really didn’t matter. Anyone who has followed the Chicago Bears knew that this game was far from over at halftime and could still end up being a 20 point Packers victory – which it almost was.

As juiced as Matt Nagy might have had his team going into this game, the reason it wouldn’t have mattered isn’t all because of Nagy’s own shortcomings as a coach, but because of the roster itself. The Chicago Bears simply don’t have the horses to compete with the elite teams in the NFL.

I want to be clear though, I think the Bears have a lot of pieces on both sides of the ball to work with – so give Pace credit for that, but his shortcomings have been plain as day this year. The Bears still lack a stable secondary, an average offensive line, and a group of dynamic playmakers to assist their young quarterback. Those might be the three of the four most important position groups to develop on a team and Pace is still searching for answers – in all three groups – 7 years in.

So all in all, it really doesn’t matter what the Packers do or say to the Bears anymore. Whether Allen Lazard wears an “I own you” shirt to the press conference or whether Rodgers openly stands by and defends his previous comments. What this game showed everyone, is that no matter how much trash the Packers talk, until the Bears see for themselves that their issues go beyond coaching, but rather up to the offices that build the roster (and the ones supervising them),  no one should reasonably expect anything to change.

Concerns me that this is coming from JLC, but Armstrong would be an awesome get for us. Currently a top coach agent but formerly the president of the NFLPA too after a decorated career. THAT is the resume of someone I want in charge of our operation. He’s the anti Ted Phillips.

That he was also a Sun Devil is a nice cherry on top that will matter only to me around these parts. 🤷‍♂️

I would do backflips!

God damnit.

Like I said in another post, take this with a grain of salt.

Yes we all know it's a report from Jason Lacanfora and he's usually wrong more often than right, but Trace Armstrong has many good reasons to dispel these rumors right now given the position he's in as an agent for several HCs around the league including Matt Nagy.

Once Nagy is finally let go I believe we will start to see more news come out whether it's about him or others who may be considered for such a role

Well it can be expected that the agent for the Bears HC whom they are about to fire is not about to be put in a position where a conflict of interest might be questioned which is what makes LaCanfora's Tweet all the more doubtful.

Imagine having to tell your client that instead of working for him to get him placed in another coaching job you're taking a senior management position with the team who just fired him.  I believe Trace Armstrong's ethics are better than that.

I would not declare the Armstong thing totally dead.

He has to deny it right now. His client is employed by the team, he has a ton of clients currently entering into the job market and others who are out recruiting.

No one says it's a dead issue.  Even Armstrong.  He just denies he's had any conversations with the Bears about it.  At this point in time that makes sense.
